Publisher's summary

Criminal Investigator Braylon Wexler has arrived in Hilton Head Island to dutifully serve his country on Paris Island Military base. As soon as he arrives the calm he's been longing for is pleasantly shattered by the tantalizing stormy presence of Sandella Summers. She is an unexpected surprise that stirs a hot longing in him, like a hot poker through blazing coals.

Sandella Summers is perfectly happy with baking her pies, her life is simple and pleasing, just the way she likes it. But her contentment is interrupted by the appearance of Braylon Wexler, a seductive and arrogant Marine, not her typical choice in a man.

Sandella holds a secret to her heart, slowing Braylon down in his quest to win her over. But Braylon excites Sandella in ways she never thought possible. Braylon is a man of honor and he's determined to not only to win her heart, but bring her family to closure of a deeply rooted conflict.

As danger and menace ensue the two lovers, can they make peace with the past and truly let love heal? Will Braylon risk his heart and his life to get everything he wants?

Mystery rapped in a romance

This was my first time Reading this author's work. I thoroughly enjoyed it will not be my last. I loved how Sandy was able to change the Marines way of thinking. The Marine was definitely a ladies man. But her l innocence and more convinced him she was very special. As I said before I thoroughly enjoyed it I was reading more of a books.

just ok

Did the Author forget she killed the horrible character in chapter 15 "shot in the head brains splashed" only to put him in jail in 16.

It isn't the worst audiobook I've ever listened to

But it wasn't the best. I felt that the writer rushed through some situations and didn't provide details where she should have. There was no real depth to the story.

No Stars-if I could

This book was awful, the gaps were huge, like the player skipped, but it didnt, the book was just awful. The mixed style of high class and fowl language didn't match. The characters didn't flow.

This story is hard to believe, given the narrator

I've never read a book by this author, but decided to give it a try. The mixture of foul language intertwined with emotion made it difficult to believe the character's "true" feelings. But I could get past that. However, the narrator's voice was a huge distraction and should be reexamined. The intonation and emphasis on phrases were odd, and not indicative of how the phrases are normally said in real life. This made the story unbelievable and hard to get into. I wasn't pleased.

Horrible narrator!!!!!!

The cover of the book shows an African American couple. I expected to hear more nuances, dialect, & passion in the story. I was initially excited......until I heard the narrator. I was so utterly disappointed that I'm returning this book. If I want to continue the saga I will just read the book myself!!!!!

I just can't...

I've tried multiple times to get through this story, but I just can't. The premise isn't terrible, but the storyline quickly becomes ludicrous and the narration doesn't help. The character's tones don't match their moods or the context of their thoughts/conversations, and I'm almost positive some of their names (at least the hero's) is being pronounced wrong. The characters' unspoken thoughts are often witty and interesting, but the things they actually say and do are boring. Perhaps I'll try again at some point since I've paid for the book, but for now--I just can't.

I couldn't finish this book.

Story line was not strong. Took too long to build the characters and was simply boring. Did not hold my attention.
