Publisher's Summary

Geoff is in the city, living the gay life to the hilt, when his father's death convinces him to return to the family farm. Discovering a young Amish man asleep in his barn, Geoff learns that Eli is spending a year away from the community before accepting baptism into the church. Despite their mutual attraction, Geoff is determined not to become involved with him, but Eli has discovered that Geoff shares his feelings and begins to court him, neatly capturing first Geoff's attention and then his heart.
Their budding relationship is threatened by closed-minded, gossipy relatives and society at large, a whole new world to Eli, and he must decide whether to return to the community, his family, and the world and future he knows, or to stay with Geoff and have faith in the power of love.

Critic Reviews

"This story is written with heart. It is both bittersweet and uplifting, and reminds us that love can be generous and selfless and that a true family and sense of belonging don’t necessarily require blood ties. If you are looking to sink into a well written, poignant, sweet and romantic reading escape then I highly recommend Love Means... No Shame by Andrew Grey." (
"Andrew Grey's Love Means... No Shame is a tear jerker. The characters grab you from the beginning and refuse to let go... This is one book that will make it to several keeper shelves to be read again and again." (Literary Nymphs Reviews)
" Love Means... No Shame is a story of acceptance - of differences, of each other, of yourself, and of how it is the differences that can forge the strongest bonds. Highly recommended. (

I was skeptical

For whatever reason, most gay fiction I've tried seems to be poorly written and even more poorly edited so I was skeptical when I bought a copy. I was pleasantly surprised that this book was both very well written and the story line pulled me in and held my interest during a 5 hour driving trip. I will definitely buy more books from this author. Highly recommended.

Not try to make his voice sound like a woman's

An enjoyable read!

Where does Love Means... No Shame - Gay Fiction rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Some where in the middle.Geoff is precisely good with numbers and finding every small mistake in accounting ledgers. He is in beginning in his career as a accountant. Suddenly, he received bad news about the death of his father. Now he need to take a big decision. To proceed his accountancy career or to be the new owner of his father farm? The result. Of course, he choose to continue managing father's heritage. Can you imagine a romance with a accountant? I'm pooling your leg. I'd been working a while as a accountant. Anyway, the second main character, Ali, is a Amish and currently out of community( a year to explore the outside world), met his second soul, Geoff. How they relationship will progress? I' m sorry I've just said “second soul”. O yes, it is happily ever after.

What did you like best about this story?

Liked more:
- Well-written. I can feel it with every fiber of my being.
- Simplicity of the plot.
- The personage. Lack of big, wide, muscular men with huge pecs and round, bulging arms men.
- The set in.
Liked less:
- Some clichés: the Christmas finale, the gay world ( the two main character + the father + - his partner + friend = 5) and some phrases such as: “I will love you always”.
- Too-good-to-be-true category because of too baby or girly sweet plot.
- I missed some depth and complexity of Amish society and culture.

What does R. Kirstein bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you had only read the book?

The narrator, Andrew R. Kirstein, did a truly great job, nails ever voice astonishingly.

Any additional comments?

All in all, it was an enjoyable read and I'm glad I didn't pass it up and I definitely would recommend it!
