Publisher's Summary

Tom Jackson follows the call of a loon to find a small boy alone on an island in the middle of a northern Minnesota lake. They need to figure out who the kid is, why he was left on the island, but the real issue seems to be that a loon led him to the boy. Tom's father-in-law, a full-blood Native American mystic, hints that the loon might be the spirit of his dead wife.

Healing of a family

This was a nice short story of healing and bringing a family together with the discovery of a child. Tom Jackson, who had lost his wife and son, is out on the lake and follows the sound of a loon which leads him to a child left on an island. The story is mainly about what happens in the search to discover who the child is.

Narrator: The narrator mainly read the story as if he was reading the book to a group of children in a library setting or to a child for a bedtime story without any real excitement.

The only addition to the book which was kind of neat was the insertion of the sound of a loon in several places.
