Publisher's summary

Imagine a young ER doctor confronting a patient in the Lonely Pines Hospital emergency room in 1981 Ohio, where both of their lives might be turned upside down and spun in a completely different direction.

This riveting medical sci-fi story will have you wondering if you’ve ever experienced a similar bizarre incident, and how time, space, and historical events may be more fluid than we ever thought possible. Beware; a strange visitor may already have your number.

A Great Spirited Sci Fi Short Story

Lonely Pines was a very cleverly written sci fi short story. R. Manolakas is a new author for me and I hope he continues writing more stories like this one. The story begins in a hospital setting then takes a chilling plot twist. The blurb gives the listener some details but for being only about a half hour in length, this story was well fleshed out. I love science fiction in small doses and this was right on. Some of the best sci fi ever written was in short stories.

Kenneth Campbell's narration was brilliant. He was the perfect reader for this story. He had an excellent approach with spot on voice inflections. I hope these two do more audiobooks together. An overall great listen.

Interesting Premise

There was an interesting premise that dominated most of this short story and I thought it was entertaining. Not new per se, but entertaining.

Twilight Zone-like Story

This story could have been torn from the pages of Rod Serling's nicotine-stained notebook from 79 years ago. It had that great creepy vibe, that feeling where you want to believe, but you aren't sure if you're crazy...

If anything, my one small nitpick about this story is that the title gives too much away. As I was listening, I knew certain characters would be okay by virtue of the title, and that took away some of the suspense. But that small thing aside, the writing was great, the narration also excellent, and the story was right down my alley.

Highly recommended for people who like short stories, thrillers, and are fans of paranormal, sci-fan and the like.

I was provided with a copy of this book for an honest review.

Time travel anyone?

It's an interesting story, a bit strange to get your mind around. A man travels into the past to save his own life. It raises so many questions in my mind and I find myself thinking around and around in circles and not going anywhere and yet it's quite interesting. It's a bit of a chicken or the egg situation.

The narration was OK, a bit stilted in the scenes where the characters are showing strong emotions, but overall OK.

Short story with a real punch

I really enjoy long fleshed out stories. This is not one. However it sounded interesting so I asked for a review copy. I am glad I did. This is a fast paced short that is just long enough to tell the story and make you think about the possible reality of the situation. And it sounded real enough to me.
Narration was excellent as well.

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.

Twilight Zone meets Time Travel

Any additional comments?

This was a very entertaining short story. It is very well told and manages to tell the whole story in a very short 30 minutes. Someday someway this will come to the world and the sooner the better. This story would be a great starting point for a full novel and I would absolutely recommend it!
