Standing . . . and Facing the Past

The second in the Edenville series, Kiss in the Wind, is told from Simpson's point of view . . . thought to have died in the fire that night long ago when the KKK attacked . . . not even mourned by his family. his father a leader in the Klan, Simpson had secretly left town with Alma and her family . . . on the run . . . eventually changing his name, marrying Alma, joining the army . . . and by the grace of God, living a life far from the treacherous roots of their southern homeland . . . having kept his true identity from even their children, Alma now passed and gone to her maker, Simpson, now an old man, has to face the demons of his childhood . . . keeping his last promise to Alma, he returns to Edenville . . . to find peace . . . but it is anything but peaceful, as he comes to Betty's house, Alma's best friend's, to try and sort things out . . . and wouldn't you know it? Out of the mouth of a child comes the questions that both stir up the hornet's nest . . . and eventually force Simpson . . . and the whole town to look clearly into the past, and own up to their parts in it . . . Feisty Frankie . . . This is a sobering, clear eyed look at the horrific things that we humans have done to one another . . . and the measures that CAN take place when we only but TRY . . . BRAVO! Great Book! Can't wait for the next in the series!

Amazing story

This story fills in so many gaps from Betty's Book - the first in the series. Gaps you didn't know you were missing. The narration is done very well. The history in these books just grabs you and keeps you there.

just as life changing as the first book....

heart wrenching series...if more people read this kind of book, maybe they could put it into today's context and troubles of our generation....the narration on all these books goes beyond exceptional! Couldnt imagine any other voice doing this with such an amazing way of bringing all these characters to life and absorb you so far into the story that you feel you are there yourself ! Amazing and well done to both author and narrator.
