Publisher's summary

He’s everything she fears…and everything she wants...

Mercenary by name and by nature, Carson is a Lakota Sioux who stays to himself and never keeps women around long enough for anything emotional to develop. But working with his friend Cash Grier on a complex murder investigation provides Carson with another kind of fun - shocking Cash’s sweet-but-traditional secretary, Carlie Blair, with tales of his latest conquests.

Then Carlie lands in deep trouble. She saw something she shouldn’t have, and now the face of a criminal is stored permanently in her photographic memory…and Carlie is the key piece of evidence that could implicate a popular politician in the murder case.

Her only protection is Carson - the man she once despised. But when she learns that Carson is more than just a tough guy, Carlie realizes she’s endangered herself further. Because now her only chance to live means losing her heart to the most dangerous kind of man...

Innocent Carlie takes on Mercinary~VG Palmer book~

PLOT: Carlie takes on Mercenary Carson.....BEST Palmer in along time.

Innocent Carlie has her share of BAD memories and secrets. She finds herself a victim and has a photographic memory of some BADDIES who were involved in a crime. Carson is a handsome Lakota Sioux who fends off his feelings for Carlie. His own "past'.. keeps him from having a future with Carlie. When Carlie is kidnapped Carson is a key in her recovery. Just about all our favorite Jacobville Characters are part of this story. But ADDED fun is newcomer.... Rourke the South African born...uncover HUNK is my favorite of this book.....and future HERO...of a future Palmer books I am so very sure....bring him on... This is one of the best Palmer books in a long time. The hero is not such a woman hater as the past ones. the ONLY thing I would like to see is more spunk the heroines we loved in EARLY Palmer books. They maked us smile and laugh....Carlie is sweet and likeable and we enjoy her but her photographic memory was not used as I hoped in this book is my only disappointment. the Plot is solid and moves along well I give this 4 stars for Plot, reader and better than average Palmer book.

Outstanding narration!

Brilliant narration. Ms.Palmer took good care of researching and bringing to life specific facts about the Lakota Nation in this story. An excellent audiobook.

Everything is great except when the male narrator does the female. Its annoying to the extreme.

Wonderful feel good book!

I listen to three or four books per week and have done so for 20 years. These books by Diana Palmer are some of my best “go to” listens. They promote family values and they’re still sexy as heck! They depict sacrifice and devotion and love I totally enjoy them!!

Carson's story

Carson , who has appeared in many of Diana Pa!mer's Long Tall Texans series, finally gets his story. He is younger than most of the other mercenaries who reside in Jacobsville, TX, but his history is also filled with pain, loss, and violence.
Continuing the story of corrupt politians that has run through several of the recent books, we can also learn what has become of characters from much earlier books -Calhoun, Abby and their sons, Justin, Kemp, Rourke, Marques, and Barbara.
Enter Carlie Blair, secretary to Police Chief Cash Greer. Carlie is DP's usual heroine- unattractive, damaged, virginal.
She is under threat because of someone she saw (photographic memory). Or maybe her father Minister Blair is the target?
After some angst and much suspense, Carlie winds up saving Carson's life, and they live happily ever after!

Regarding the narrator --he does a decent job of male voices with Texas, Chicago, and South African accents.
However, his female voices are downright creepy. I also noticed this about his reading of Lawman.
Please, please just have a female read those particular parts of the book.

Love this story

Diana Palmer is one of my very favorite writers.
I am reading & listening to all her books.
The most important comment I can make is that reading or listening to her books is time. Very well spent! Thank you
