Publisher's summary

Nika Michelle and Racquel Williams take listeners to the island paradise of Jamaica to experience major drama with a dash of tropical flavor.

When Yankee gal Kadijah visits the beautiful island of Jamaica with her friends Nicole and Tamia, she does not expect the events that follow. After a nasty breakup with her two-timing ex and her graduation from culinary arts school, all she wants to do is unwind and maybe have a one-night stand. However, when she meets Omari, the sexy rude boy turned DJ, things heat up quickly.

Once Omari locks eyes with Kadijah, his life will never be the same, and he knows it. He is feeling the feisty American beauty, but his wife, the beautiful but fiery Angela, is having no parts of it. She will stop at nothing to make sure that no woman takes her husband away from her - especially not some Yankee.

The story line was good for the most part.

however the narrator killed it with a Trini accent, lots of Jamaicans get this book because of the title and the Jamaican flag but then they are greeted with a unauthentic accent. I truly hope the author does a part 2 and gets a real Jamaican to narrate as Jamaicans love to see the country in a positive light but hate impersonators.

As a Jamaican i was greatly disappointed

The narrator gave the book no justice, I did not make it past the first "Jah know star" the accent was trash. I do believe that this book needs to be removed and to redone by a true jamaican. Persons who are not jamaicans may think the accent was authentic but no jamaican speaks like that. You really need to hear the book being done by a true yaadie a real jamaican. This whole book needs a redo.

The narration was horrible

I wanted so badly to love this book. The Jamaican in me was excited when I saw the title, but sadly I couldn't get past the narration with the horrible Jamaican accents and mispronounciation. The plot was all over the place and two many characters to keep up with. book kept going over the same events but with different characters which was annoying. I would give the author another listen with different narrator and would have given better rating despite the plot if not for the narration

In Love with a Rude Boy

The story line was great , however the narrator's accent was killing me. As a Jamaican I knew how we were supposed to sound and the narrator sounded more like a Trinidadian than a Jamaican. I must say it was funny listening to the narrator though.

It's a good story but the accents tho...sigh.

Please, get Jamaicans to narrate Jamaican parts of your books. From a Jamaican stand point, the accent was really shitty and even with the extra effort, that accent was far from ready. That's nothing like a Jamaican accent and some of us find it insulting when you guys do that. That sounds more Trinidadian but definitely not Jamaican.
The story itself was interesting though and also entertaining. Just please, stop using other Caribbean people to do Jamaican accents. I'm sure there must be one Jamaican that you guys can hire and keep on your payroll to do the Jamaican accents for these books.

On the fence about this book

I would give the story a 3 1/2 if I could. I'm not sure if it's was the narration or the characters she had to portray. I listen to audible stories frequently. Getting ready for work, during my work day, car rides and usually before bed. This book I had to frequently turn down because the narrator was too loud, even on my lowest volume setting. If it were a few scenes because of the scene, cool, but every time she switched accents it's seemed to be megaphone loud. Now the story line had a lot of drama, too much in my opinion, probably could of been broken up into a mini series because it seem unrealistic how much goes down in a couple months. I could realistically believe the main characters would be that wrapped up in each other and get in dangerous situations off one night... but the storyline may of contributed to the pitchy narration. I wish the authors had did more character building and foundation building. The main (American) character attitude was just as bad as the wife. She had no redeeming attributes that made me want to like her anymore than the wife. All worst case scenarios were only a few pages away. Around the 5/6 hour mark I just wanted to get finished with the story.

Great for the most part

The story was great. i enjoyed it however the Jamaican accent was poorly done. It would be best to get a Jamaican narrator to do the Jamaican parts this would get listeners more connected to the story.

I am Jamaican

This entire experience was cringe-worthy. The accent is so far off it sounded Bajan, Bahamian and Trinidadian They should have gotten a Jamaican reader, do dis to the reader, she did the Yankee parts on point, but damn that was awful really awful it was distracting and downright disrespectful to my culture. Our language is a huge part of our identity and the way it was butchered really feels like a slap in the face. Do better, do more research our hire the right people. That whole experience took away from the book
