Publisher's Summary

When Jimmy McSwain is hired to find missing heir Harris Rothschild, he finds that identities can be altered and lives can be changed - or taken with the simple pull of the trigger. Jimmy McSwain is a New York City private detective, operating out of Hell's Kitchen, the rough and tumble neighborhood he grew up in. At age 14, he watched as his NYPD father was gunned down. Now, at age 28, and gay, Jimmy has never given up pursuit of whoever killed him. But a PI must make a living, and so he's taken on the case of missing heir Harris Rothschild, whose overbearing father doesn't approve of his "alternate" lifestyle.
Tracking down Harris is easier than expected, but the carnage that follows isn't. With a shocking murder on his hands, and a threat coming from some unforeseen person, Jimmy's caseload is suddenly full, and very dangerous.

Keep coming back

Where does Hidden Identity rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

Hidden Identity ranks among the top 10 audiobooks I've listened to so far. Can't wait for the next one.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Jimmy McSwain was my favorite character. He's not what I would think of as your usual private detective.

Which scene was your favorite?

There were so many scenes that I truly enjoyed, it's hard to pick just one. Jimmy's interaction with his mother after he as attacked and left for dead was one of my favorite parts of the book. He made it seem like it was no big deal. He's a real character.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

If I had the time, I could have listened to it in one sitting.

Any additional comments?

I can't wait for the next Jimmy McSwain audiobook. I'm his newest fan. Looking forward to listening to it.

More Jimmy

I loved this story and really hope to see more of Jimmy. This story (and hopefully series) reminded of the Infected series by Andrea Speed; minus the shifter element. Jimmy is a PI that grew up in Hell’s Kitchen with 1st generation Irish parents. Joel Leslie does a masterful Irish accent as a result. He witnessed his father’s death 15 years ago (murder?) and has never got over it. So while the story is primarily about solving a missing person case, the unsolved death of his father is also part of it. Warning though, that is not solved in this installment; along with some other relationship issues. There is a romance in this installment, but I’m not confident it is the ultimately relationship for Jimmy as the story introduces other potential suitors. And of course Jimmy has commitment issues. All and all this could be a really great series and I look forward to the next installment. Joel Leslie continues to be one of my favorite narrators and gives an awesome performance and brings this story to life.
