Publisher's Summary

On the Delta Shuttle between New York and Washington, Elise finds herself sitting next to Donald - tall, with dark wavy hair and a big easy smile. She's left the world of women's magazines in Manhattan for graduate school in D.C. He's left investment banking to become a teacher. They are both unattached. They exchange stories. They fall in love. One year later they're headed for an April wedding. Storybook finish? Not quite. Donald has some serious baggage: an ex-fiancée named Adrienne. And she's not just any ex; she is "the mother of all exes." Yale educated, French extraction, ravishing, and she's just shown up in D.C. Adrienne is Elise's worst nightmare incarnate - and before too long her all-consuming obsession. Every man comes with baggage. But did it have to be her? Laura Zigman's Her is a pitch-perfect look at what happens when the deepest, darkest heart of jealousy takes over your life.

Trite, Annoying, Badly Written

This book was so disappointing. I really enjoyed Animal Husbandry, but Her was just lame. The characters are annoying, self-involved, and shallow. Zigman's writing is overly precious and riddled with asides and parentheticals. And the storyline - a pampered brat driven crazy with insecurity and jealousy - is an insult to all women. One of the worst books I've heard.

Annoying, Whiney and Pathetic

What a disappointing book. The characters in this book were predictable and poorly developed and were involved in a plot that went no where fast. This book showed the sterotype women have been fighting to dispell for years. The fight between two women over one man is a poor basis for any story. But if reading about neurotic women that sneak around in the bushes to see what their boyfriends are doing, this is the book for you.
