Publisher's Summary

Two people, two tragedies, two deep, devastating secrets....
Griff Montgomery is the headline-making, heart-breaking star quarterback of the Kings - a six-foot-four-inch, 33-year-old womanizer. Lauren Farraday is a beautiful young interior designer, bitterly scarred by divorce, whose life is falling apart. Though they violently oppose one another in court over her beloved pug (she thinks he's arrogant and conceited, and he thinks she's a bitch on wheels), something happens....
These are the bare bones of this sizzling romance, riddled with passion - the first in a brand new series that'll tantalize football fans and have listeners glued to every word and on the edge of their seats!
Griff looks like a super hero with his tousled, mahogany hair, dazzling smile, dark, sexy eyes, and a body that does something indescribable to a tight pair of jeans. Though Lauren's sworn off men forever, one look sends shivers down her spine, making her feel lonelier than ever before. Her lustrous, long hair, sparkling green eyes, and nonstop curves make his fingers tingle at the thought of touching her. How do they deal with their cataclysmic attraction? Will they be able to drop their protective facades - his to camouflage his grief over his sister and her family, for whom he was a surrogate father, moving 3000 miles away.... And hers' to shield her from the incalculable loss of her husband and hoped for child?
For Griff, the thought of falling in love is as foreign as toe shoes and a tutu. For Lauren, it's like putting on cleats and a helmet and running 50 yards.... Can they, will they, risk it?
CAUTION: Book contains locker room language.

"Couples Book"

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

Yes but....might be too embarrassed to say why

What did you like best about this story?

Just about everything. Great characters, twists and turns galore and "tasteful but hot" romance.

What does Jim Roberts bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Very nice job, especially with the dialogue.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Took only three days. Two commuting and finished at home. Couldn't wait for next week's commute.

Any additional comments?

My husband and I commute to work together every day. It takes about 90 minutes round trip. Our tastes in music differ, so we decided to start listening to audio books during the commute. Same problem, though…different tastes…He likes sports. I like Romance.

We compromised with The New York Times on audio and a few mysteries until I came across this book and saw it had both Football and Romance and convinced him to give it a try. Bottom line, we both loved it as a story and for its “extended benefits”.

To explain…. About half-way through the book there was the first “bedroom” scene.” It was very well done but pretty explicit. You should have seen my husband’s jaw practically hit the floor of the car. He actually pulled over, turned to me and said, “Are you comfortable with this?” My response was ( with a grin ) “Sure, if you are.” The smile that spread across his face was something to behold. And when we got home from work, well let’s just say we were both eager to have our own little “explicit scene.”

So, this book was a great story for both of us during our commute and had “benefits” I never would have expected! We ended up finishing the book at home instead of waiting for next week’s commute. First time that’s happened. We are both looking forward to the next one in the series. For now ( sigh ) back to the New York Times.

Wow! This was a good one.

Where does Griff Montgomery, Quarterback rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

The best so far. Couldn't stop listening and was kind of happy at the resolution of the plot yet sad when it was over.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Griff and Lauren. Both had "layers" of personality not just cardboard characters like so many romance novels. Oh...and the dog, Spike, that brought them together was adorable.

Which scene was your favorite?

Can't say...would be a "spoiler" One caution, though. The language was what you would expect to hear from from a male sports team. And, without giving too much away, the intimate scene were very realistic. They described in loving detail what lovers do to please each other. Erotic certainly but far from porn. In fact, I thought they were both beautiful and hot! However, prudish types might be uncomfortable with this kind of thing. Their loss.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Came close...took two days. Normally takes me five or six for a book this size.

Any additional comments?

Narrator was excellent. Really made the characters come alive. My only disappointment...the next book in the series is not in audio yet but a blurb at the end of the book said it would be coming soon. Can't wait!
