Publisher's summary

They met at the worst possible moment...or maybe it was just in time. David McClain was about to go to war, and Lindsey Wood was there at his going-away party, capturing his heart when falling for a woman was the last thing on his mind. While David was serving his country, he stayed in close contact with Lindsey. But war changes a person, and when he came home very little had the same meaning that it had before - including the romance that had sustained him. Was love truly unconquerable, or would it prove to be just another battlefield casualty?

Critic reviews

“Stunning.” (Crystal Book Reviews)
“It is amazing that Steven Manchester can take the same alphabet most of us use, create the same words most of us use, and arrange them so skillfully that they reach in and stir profound emotions in a reader. His ability to connect the reader with the characters’ deepest feelings, fears, hopes, dreams, and love is incredible.” (Long and Short Reviews)
“Once again, with a style as unique as his fingerprints, Steven Manchester will steal your heart and soul in exchange for the beauty of his words.” (Tome Tender)

I didn’t know is what to think at first about this book, but I came to love it. My heart goes out to the veterans and what they have gone through.
I love how David and Lindsey found they way back to each other and the life they began. Look forward to hearing more books from this author.

Laughter & Tears

I though this would be a light hearted romance, from the title. Not so. It’s a riveting look into PTSD. Having a son-in-law who suffered greatly from this condition due to his time in Afghanistan, I was glad to learn more about it. There is a good romance woven throughout the story.

Thank you

I don’t write reviews, so please stay with me. I started your audiobook Gooseberry Island. I was sitting outside in the shade listening. If my grandkids had witnessed my response to the book, they would have run for their parents. I cried when the characters cried. I laughed and smiled and held my head in my hands. Next stop..nursing home!

PTSD

Good story line about PTSD . Story could have been cut in half and ended with the last chapter. Good beginning but became so sappy over and over again. Skipped most of it.
