Reminded me of my own family....

Would you consider the audio edition of Gemini Joe: Son of a Mobster to be better than the print version?

Absolutely... The print version was good but with the audio, it was like listening to a radio play... the way our parents and grandparents used to do on Sunday nights. I didn't think it would happen but I'm becoming addicted to audiobooks. I'm going to buy a little pillow speaker.

What did you like best about this story?

It's based on a TRUE story. These folks really existed... and I think I know who the real life character was, because I grew up in New York and on Long Island right around that time. It's a whole different feeling when you know the story is true. Someone actually lived this!

Have you listened to any of Al Benelli’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I loved listening to the way he did "Eating Trees" where he reminded me a lot of a Joe Pesci type, but in this one the Italian/Brooklyn voices are spot on! Sounded a lot like my old man used to sound.

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

I'd leave it as is... It has a tag line!

Any additional comments?

An entertaining read/listen for the most part... but a tragic story within when you think of how many families are devastated by the same circumstances. I know too many families that were torn apart by the same things... money... alcohol... gambling... infidelity... Parts of this book are genuinely painful.
