Publisher's summary

The fabric of American society has been torn asunder by an EMP attack on the United States. The enormity of what has happened is sinking in to the population. No area of the country has been spared. From the big cities to the rural countryside, all have been impacted.

Loved ones are stranded far from home, their suffering families not knowing their fate. Food is in short supply, transportation has come to a halt, and a short trip across the county can become deadly. Law and order has fallen by the wayside.

Desperation is setting in, and desperate people will do desperate things. The struggles and the fight to survive is real. The physical, mental, and emotional scars will last a lifetime.

The time is now for individuals and communities to come together in order to survive. But will they? Will you? Those that survive will never be the same.

Great story / Hard to listen

My wife and I have listened to this genre of fiction novels for the past three years on audible while we travel. Most are difficult to listen due to the graphic language, so it was refreshing to hear/read from an author that did not believe that sort of foul language was necessary.

But... the fake southern accent from the narration became too hard to listen. We started laughing so much the story became insignificant. Why the author would use that makes no sense. As much as we enjoyed the story we would not purchase another if the narration were done by the same readers.

Just being honest, thank you.

rediculous midwest girl fail at a southern accent

the story is worth listening to, just be prepared that you will have to listen to 2 horrible narrators read it to you in horrible southern accents. You will also have to listen to a different prayer about every other page as well.

good and very knowledgeable survival

I like the book a little much on the praying but I respect the author and his religion and how he wants to do it. I personally love the book.
it reminded me in the beginning of the series of American survivalist by A. American on little details.
but it had its own little twist and I recommended it.

What an adventure, great story. Bad narration

The narration over this series has been terrible the whole ride with extremely poor southern accents. Don't let that take away from the story, it is very well written and had a great plot. I'd recommend it to anyone interested in apocalyptic books.

Wonderful, wholesome, entertaining listen.

I loved this book and the entire series. It's not super cerebral with a complex plot, which makes it perfect to listen to while multitasking. If you are only comfortable with degenerate story lines and language, where 50% of the words are either f### or sh##, then this is not the book for you. It's a wholesome book suitable to read with your children, keeping in mind the violence. You can't go wrong with this author. I will listen to everything he produces. I haven't been disappointed yet.

Is Lizzie Smart or Clueless?

Narration was great and the story was mostly good. I think my only real complaint is that for Lizzie to be such a smart girl, she was sooooo extremely blind when it came to her friend Amy Hilton and her spineless family. My husband was enjoying listening along with me until the cluelessness went on wayyyyyyy to long!! In this day and age of "Reality" Cable Shows and internet fodder, it's hard to believe anyone could be that clueless. Again Grandpa's natural experience and wisdom seemed put on hold. He could have "cautioned" Will and still had the love stuck young man not follow instructions because he was given what he "thought" of as good reasons, without seeming disrespectful!!! As for the rest, including twist at the end, well done!

Great Series

What an great great series by Jeff Motes. This has everything you need. You can learn, laugh, cry and like me cuss certain characters and talk to yourself. The narration of the book is great with the two different voices. you might want to even trade sandwiches. I truly hope Mr. Motes the you continue this series.
