NOT an inspirational book and VERY depressing...

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

This books is for you if you want a maudlin, long drawn out story that attempts to stick a knife into your chest and twist the blade just to get a reaction out of you. The description is WAY lacking. I would say this is a spoiler alert, but the book needs spoiling... The description sounds as if she goes in search of her beloved husband and who knows what happens, but certainly it doesn't imply hours of introspective blah, blah, blah mingled with the knife jab (read other woman) mingled with more hours of introspective blah, blah, blah mingled with a twist of the knife (baby from jerk husband's indiscretion) and on and on and on. I kept waiting for it to get "inspiring" or anything positive. And it never, ever did. If you want a similar story only one that actually inspires and yes, has an upbeat ending, try Charles Martin's "The Mountain Between Us".On a positive note, the performance is very well done. The story is just awful, depressing and way too much like a tear jerker that works to hard to make you cry for the sake of the tears. So annoying. With a better description I wouldn't have wasted my money. I will look for other books read by the two narrators.

Has Far From Here turned you off from other books in this genre?

No, but definitely from other books by this author.

Have you listened to any of Jennifer Ikeda and Laurie Birmingham ’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

Not that I remember, but I would definitely try to find something interesting by either of them. They were the ONE redeeming part of this audiobook!

If you could play editor, what scene or scenes would you have cut from Far From Here?

Oh dear. The entire book. The story was just plain horrible. Please put a more thorough description in... mention the "other woman" angle and the whole "devastating betrayal". Be fair; I would NEVER have bought this if those two phrases had found their way into the description.

Something went wrong. Please try again in a few minutes.
