2015 Audie Award Finalist for Short Stories/Collections

Edited by number-one New York Times best-selling author David Baldacci and including stories by Michael Connelly, Lee Child, Jeffery Deaver, and more, this one-of-a-kind anthology pulls together the most-beloved characters from the best and most popular thriller series today. Worlds collide!

In an unprecedented collaboration, 23 of the world’s best-selling and most critically acclaimed thriller writers have paired their series characters - such as Harry Bosch, Jack Reacher, and Lincoln Rhyme - in an 11-story anthology curated by the International Thriller Writers (ITW). All of the contributors to FaceOff are ITW members and the stories feature these dynamic duos:

  • Harry Bosch vs. Patrick Kenzie in "Red Eye", by Dennis Lehane and Michael Connelly
  • John Rebus vs. Roy Grace in "In the Nick of Time", by Ian Rankin and Peter James
  • Slappy the Ventriloquist Dummy vs. Aloysius Pendergast in "Gaslighted", by R.L. Stine, Douglas Preston, and Lincoln Child
  • And many more...

Comments on Faceoff

Great idea to have iconic characters from different authors in the same story. Very easy and interesting listen. The readers kept my attention through all the different stories.

a mixed bag

This accomplishes what it sets out to do, which is to get characters together in the same stories . . . and some succeed better than others, no surprise. Its worth a credit for sure.

Not all are created equal...

The best was saved for last. The rest were in the mediocre to "I-saw-that-coming-a-mile-away". I always fall for these and hope that some day one will really be worth the listen from start to finish.

A great mix of Thrill Writers

if you are a Thrillers fan, this book is for you. All your favorite characters are in a dozen short stories. It let's you sample various writers working together to mix their favorite characters into scenarios working with other famous characters.

Intriguing

I really enjoyed the mixing of characters! I will purchase their next writing venture! My favorite was Lucas Davenport & Lincoln Rhymes!

some good stories

I don't think I like this one as much as I like the revenge anthology that I read.. some good stories, some kind of boring.

Fun stories

This was a fun, quick and easy book to listen to. The Reacher story was at the end, leaving me craving more.

Great concept but only so-so for me.

I liked the idea of collaboration between writers but it didn’t really work for me because I’d never read many of them and knew nothing about the characters.
I enjoyed several of the stories but felt like I was missing something.
If there was a Scot Harvath/Jack Reacher story or something similar, I’m sure I’d have enjoyed it more.
I’ve got to either start a bunch of new series or just move on. 🥹
