Good read

The only thing I would say is that it had too many negative chapters in the beginning. I would cut that into 1/3. As it was a downer and I wanted to put it down and away forever. Glad I didn’t.

Entertaining But...

I'm enjoying the story: it's light and upbeat, with a likable protagonist albeit slightly cliche. The reader, Imogen Church, is talented with varying voices for each character, inflection, pacing, and tone. But there is one problem that the director or editing should have caught/prevented/corrected: Whenever the main character has an "aside" or interior monologue, Ms Church lowers the volume of her voice so greatly that it's near impossible to hear. Yet increasing my devices' volume results startlingly loud dialogue from the other characters, as if they're yelling. My downstairs neighbor even complained that my "TV was too loud." This just about ruined the listening experience for me, making it quite frustrating. I want to listen to the rest of the book, but no matter where I am or how I listen--car, earbuds, home speakers system--there are parts of the book I can't hear unless I want to be subjected to parts that are jarringly loud. So frustrating!!! I've listened to other books narrated by Imogen Church and usually enjoy her style, so it's clear this time she just didn't realize her mic wasn't picking up part of her speech very well.

Was a bit slow at one point but it picked back up

I have to admit that I am writing this review 3 months after I purchased the book. I started it and got tired I'm the middle and just couldn't pick it back up. once I ran out of credits and things I had not read yet I came back and was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. I seemed to have given up on the story just before things started looking up for the heroine and so my return to the world of Poppy was a joyous one. the story was good but I earn you that it may drag slightly in the middle. I never really laughed out loud but I was amused many times. You will cringe for the main character more than anything but she comes around. I am not upset about the credit. I would do it again. This book is more about self discovery than anything else. It's a love story in which the heroine falls in love with who she is and everything else falls into place after that. There is no sex, illicit violence, or drug use in the book although the heroine does deal with the lingering feelings of being a child who grew up witness to a drug addiction. The book was a solid story but if you are looking for a love story this is not it. It's more of a self-love story but in the end that is fine with me.

Too long

Was it really necessary to drag out the story to over 10 hrs? Love Imogene Church but even she couldn’t save this train wreck of a book.

Ugh

I'm sorry but I hated this book. I found the story extremely boring and the narrator was way to over dramatic. I couldn't even finish it.
