Publisher's summary

What would you give for one night in the world's most luxurious hotel? Now imagine you own it. Honor is trying to save the family hotel that shares her name.

Palmers, a beautiful old jewel of a building nestled on the coast of the Hamptons, used to be the most glamorous destination in the world. Now Honor wants to restore its reputation, its glitz and its guest list. But there's a new boy in town with a different plan.

Lucas Ruiz is manager of the new hotel on the block, and wants to bring modern boutique-chic to the States. As Honor and Lucas prepare to go head to head to get the rich and famous checking in, the locals are busy checking out the backstairs gossip.

Blackmail, adultery and the dirtiest of dirty tricks are all in a day's work behind the scenes of the five-star facades.

Not great, not terrible

This book was somewhat entertaining, it's a classic Tilly Bagshaw. She sure loves her spoiled trust fund characters, and this book is full of them. There are often huge gaps in the time line that she tries to fill you in, almost like she got bored of writing and just decided to move on ....... four months later. It happens many times in the story. Hard to keep up with the catch up. It's not a terrible book, but its not amazing.

The perfect sexy get away

Pure fantasy and so indulgent!! The book has a variety of very colorful characters some you can relate to others not so much. But all of their flaws, ambition and sometimes kind heartedness just pulls you in. I thought the narrator, Barbara Rosenblat, did a fantastic job bringing each of the characters to life. She is very talented!

Another Perfect Novel

I love Tily Bagshawe, to me she writes the best books. What I love so much is in each and every book they are epic covering long lives where so much happens. In Do Not Disturb two vfery ambitious people struggle in the competative hotel market in the Hamptons. I am terrible at these reviews because I can't do the book justice but I am telling you I am hard to entertain and this book is captivating.

Fun Story, Not So fun Narration

I usually listen to a sample before buying, but I forgot this time. The story is good, but the narrator is totally mismatched for the main characters. It's not unlistenable and the performance isn't bad, but her voice is just not right for this particular audiobook. Such a shame, with the right narrator this book could have been a lot more enjoyable.

Dreadful

What was most disappointing about Tilly Bagshawe’s story?

The author employs every tired cliché she can think of and the story is utterly predictable.

Would you be willing to try another one of Barbara Rosenblat’s performances?

Never again!

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Sheer utter boredom

Any additional comments?

Save your credits and spend them on a more worthy author/narrator.

Bad writing

Sorry to be the sour apple in this barrel, but if you like good prose, this book is not for you. The writing is loaded with cliches and lazy, conventional descriptions. I'll bet the plot is great, but when I hit the first laughably crude sex scene, I stopped wasting my time with this one. I like a good pot-boiling romantic soap opera, but it has to be better written than this one. If I could delete it from my library, I would, I was that disappointed. Even the skillful Barbara Rosenblatt's narration could not redeem the bad writing. You'd be better off with the Nora Roberts books (which include sex scenes) or the Amelia Peabody books by Elizabeth Peters (which draw a tactful veil between the reader and the character's sex lives). The Peabody books are also read by Rosenblatt, enchantingly.
