The course of true love doesn't always run clean. But sometimes getting dirty is half the fun.
Entomology grad student Adam Ellery meets Denver Rogers, a muscle-bound hunk of sexy, when Denver effortlessly dispatches the drunken frat boys harassing Adam at the Tucker Springs laundromat. Thanking him turns into flirting, and then, much to Adam's delight, hot sex over the laundry table.
Though Denver's job as a bouncer at a gay bar means he gets his pick of geek-sexy college twinks, he can't get Adam out of his head. Adam seems to need the same rough play Denver does, and it's damn hard to say no to such a perfect fit.
Trouble is, Adam isn't just shy: he has obsessive compulsive disorder and clinical anxiety, conditions which have ruined past relationships. And while Denver might be able to bench-press a pile of grad students, he comes from a history of abuse and is terrified of getting his GED. Neither Denver nor Adam want to face their dirty laundry, but to stay together, they're going to have to come clean.

DOM/sub BDSM as therapy for OCD anxiety attack?
Disappointing as the publishers were vague about the content. It smacks of misperception if not downright misrepresentation and deceit as to the content.
Both Adam and Denver was written with charm.
Mr. Toma did an excellent job as he has done with the other performances of his I have enjoyed.
How BDSM can improve and help OCD anxiety. Either that or make the publisher description more honest about the content.
Based on the publishers blurb I had no idea that that this book had major Dom/sub and BDSM characteristics. The description only referenced some “ruff play”. So I was surprised when I found it was an integral part of the story. Well I bought it thinking it was one thing and it turned out to be another. My primary reason for this review is to prevent others from being so surprised.
Heidi Cullinan has created a story in which a body builder, Denver, with a learning disorder and experience in the BDSM scene uses role play as a Dom to bring tranquility to the anxiety and chaos that results from Adam’s neatly ordered social and physical environment becomes disordered and out of control. This is an interesting hypothesis for a fictional story but it is hardly anything like acceptable therapy. At its heart it is a story how trust and submission can be a powerful tool to reluctance and crippling anxiety. As entertainment for the kink community, or kink curious, this book is well done. It almost makes it seems a reasonable approach. However, any Dom or sub with such impairment as OCD and crippling anxiety would be ill advised to try treating the condition as this book depicts. It is important to recognize that fantasy and fiction is not an acceptable approach to replace main stream medical, pharmacological, and psychological therapy.
The particular set of insecurities, anxieties, and triggers the character Adam has is unlikely to exist in the real world. For someone to think all OCD’s with anxiety people are like this character and would respond as this character did would be foolish.
Ultimately, for me, despite how well this book was written and performed it fails because of the potential for misuse by people to deep into their own thing not to try to use what they read here and cause real damage to real people in the real world.
Dirty talk, sweet feels & excellent narration!
If you are a fan of D/s relationships and dirty talk look no further – Dirty Laundry has it all!
Adam Ellery suffers from O.C.D., anxiety and panic attacks. While doing his laundry one day he is accosted by drunken frat boys who nearly send him into a panic attack. He’s saved by Denver Rogers, a huge mountain of rugged testosterone with a heart of gold.
Denver treats Adam like he’s normal, which is a huge departure from the passive/aggressive kid-glove obsessive way his ex-boyfriend, Brad, treated him. Adam feels safe with Denver, safe enough to indulge in some of the kinkier side of sex he’s always wanted to try. Denver, who had his own ex from hell, knows that while Adam might have some issues, nothing is insurmountable and the heat between the two is worth doing anything to keep going.
I absolutely love the way Denver treats Adam. I love that Denver is controlled without being controlling. That he shores up Adam and treats him wonderfully. I have no idea if the disabilities and mental issues were portrayed properly, but they seemed, to me, like they were handled well and I loved being with Adam and Denver on their journey together.
The sex and dirty talk were…delicious!
I love Adam’s friend Luisa. What a fantastic, mother-gentle character.
I love the narration – Iggy Toma, once again, brings it. It’s entertaining, engrossing, and fun. The character voices, the pacing, it all hits the mark.
But…there were two things that marred my enjoyment of the story. The first was that after they stopped using condoms, it was like the on page sex dried up. It had been so hot before that. Seriously…HOT. Then, chuck the condoms and…it petered out. Which made me sad. The second thing is I was really looking forward to seeing Brad’s comeuppance…and I didn’t get the satisfaction I was looking for, which also made me sad.
But the story is strong, Adam and Denver are terrific together, and the narration is a hit! Iggy brought the heat and the feels and made this a true listening pleasure from start to finish!
