Publisher's Summary

Made in 1939, the Golden Year of Hollywood, the film version of Destry Rides Again helped launch Jimmy Stewart's career and made Marlene Dietrich an American icon.Harry Destry was a rough-and-tumble fighter who never lost a battle. But after six years in jail for a robbery he didn't commit, he comes back a changed man. The townsfolk believe he's beaten. They think all the fight's gone right out of him. And that's exactly what Destry wants them to think. Because that's the way he alone will serve justice to the 12 men who framed him.

Unabridged doesn't mean unedited

First of all, the performance was pretty bad. You could hear the narrator turning the pages of his script. You could hear the pauses in his performance as he turned the page. The narrator's cadence kept changing...it just seemed very unpolished and unprofessional.

The audiobook was unabridged but there were words in the audiobook that are different from the print book. For example, the print book used the "n" word but that word was changed in the audiobook. I thought that was a smart choice and didn't mind the change but I think there should have been some sort of note telling the buyer that this particular audiobook was "edited for content" or something along those lines.

Overall, I thought the story was OK but the performance was not very good at all.

Great cowboy suspense novel for adults and kids

The characters were well developed. The plot was easy to follow. The suspense was expertly built and adroitly relieved with good endings. The book had one of the best finishes that I have seen in some time. I highly recommend this book for adults and young people alike.
