Editorial Reviews

L. A. Wilson’s noir novelette features "Memphis Red" on his danger-filled trips in the early '40s underworld connecting entertainment in uptown and downtown Manhattan. Voices and emotions in the Mystery Writers of America member whose short stories frequently appear in mystery and detective fiction magazines range from a sonorous, steady, neutral baritone providing the exposition to impassioned, ethnic expressions of anguish. The interplay brings a unique tension to the story of men and women playing a game, sometimes of love and sometimes death, that forces them to alternate between roles as victims and villains.

Not one of my favorite.

I didn't connect with story because there wasn't much of a storyline and somewhat boring. I loved the narrating of the story.
