Publisher's Summary

Daisy grows up in a Geordie family of Irish descent, which has just one interest: her older sister, a precociously talented singer. Daisy learns early on how to cope with disappointment and rejection, but she also develops a rare resilience and determination. This stands her in good stead when a despicable act of violence gives her no choice but to leave home. The WAAF wants recruits, and Daisy signs up, full of trepidation but hope too. Now she can be the person she's always wanted to be, but who exactly is that?

Engaging

I enjoyed this book, it was 13 hours long, and was really nice to snuggle down with and escape into. It was also very historically interesting in parts as it is set during World war two and gives a very interesting portrayal of the role of women in the Air Force. On the downside the first hour or so the narration has been badly edited and seems to be rather 'jumpy'. It felt like the beginning of the book had been cut and spliced with a pair of scissors. However, this problem disappears after a while. I also found there was a bit of the book, a couple of hours before the end, that was rather rambling and would have actually benefitted from being 'abridged'. Overall though well worth pressing the download button, I only wish audible had the follow up book available.

She is a person and a woman for all times. Start reading ANY of Meg Hendersons books and you will be hooked. Never a boring moment. Absolutely engrossing. I hope Audible will offer more titles by this author.
