Publisher's summary

Carter bought his way out of the Mafia to protect Emma, but when an old ghost returns to the Mauricio family, a chain of events starts that can harm everyone. While Carter must decide to return to the Mauricio family or not, a face that is oddly familiar to Emma comes into her life. She's given the chance to discover more about her family while tension between the rivaling Mauricio and Bertal families comes to a head in an explosive way. The truce is officially off, and when the two worlds collide, Carter's decision is made.

He didn't start this war, but he will end it. He will do anything to protect Emma.

Sequel I didn’t know I needed

4.5 stars - I thought I was good with where the first Carter Reed ended, but I am so happy the characters told Tijan more of the story. I loved being reunited with Carter (& getting some of the story from his perspective), Emma, Noah, Theresa, and Amanda, and some of the new characters quickly became favorites. I enjoyed seeing how Emma was more confident in Carter’s world, although she still gave me face slap moments. Also, it was nice having several side conflicts in addition to the main mafia one. Finally, the callbacks to AJ gave me warm fuzzies. I am throughly enjoying coming back to this world, so I will definitely be diving straight into Cole after this. Audibly, Lucy Rivers did well as Emma and I enjoyed the addition of Christian Fox.

Outstanding

What a finish ! I am not into mafia stories, but this one is so good. It’s not the drab usual story. It’s exciting. For my life, accepting the violence is not Normal, but it fit the storyline and the mafia family myth. It makes a good story to read. Tijan writing style will pull you into the plot and characters. It will make you want to keep reading just to stay close. The narration is perfection. I enjoyed the first book and this second was a very pleasant surprise. I have had the audible for years and have listened to it so many times. It wraps up some interesting loose ends. Highly recommend. Enjoy

Carter Reed…Whoa.

I loved the man among men aspect of the story. Such a tough situation for a young girl but, she was a stubborn woman, so good for her.

I loved it, but....

I love the story, Carter, and Emma, even though she drove me crazy sometimes. What I didn't like and caused the drop in stars, was the term "clip" that was used. The only gun that has a clip is the M1 Garand. Everything else has a magazine. Every time I heard thr characters say clip, I cringed and almost stopped listening. It made them sound like idiotic wannabes that knew nothing and should have never been allowed to have a gun in their hands. I feel like if you're going to write on certain things, you should use the correct terms.

Carter Reed book 2

The story line was great. Need to listen to the first book to understand all about the characters. There is a very strong love story. The 2 main characters had to go though hell before their happy ending. They had to fight against 2 Mafia families . WAR WAS ON FOR THEM TO LIVE. Many friends died and enemies......It is a dark listen/read. Only complaint the narrative in second book very slow..had to change the speed one up that help a little, first book no problem. GREAT STORY ...🧩 👀. 🐼

The Best of the BEST!!!

I have now placed Carter Reed, Books 1 & 2, # 1 top audiobooks for my year 2019. This book had me on the edge from beginning to the very end. This author's vision is so EXPLOSIVE that she's in a class all of her own.

I'm just at an Awww... I just can't even think of all the words to describe how much this audiobook has emotionally affected me. The one thing you can takeaway is, what Carter Reed will do if someone threatens the woman he loves. He will fight Heaven and He'll if that's what it takes.
This is a book that many could enjoy, not just women, I believe a lot of men would enjoy the storyline.

With book 2 Tijan brought not only Lucy Rivers; who did the storytelling for book 1, but also Christian Fox who did the vocals for Carter Reed. The two of them were hot together. You could feel the chemistry through the headphones. Those two make a good team and I hadn't heard anything done by Christian Fox prior to this audiobook. I hope that I will come across other of his books. This is definitely a 5-🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 book.

EVERY BIT AS GRIPPING & ENJOYABLE AS BOOK 1

The pulse-pounding action continues as Carter gives up his Mafia interests and hands it all over to his friend/Mafia son Cole despite being begged to take over as Boss. But he can't yet walk away because someone is still after Emma and repeatedly tries to kill her.. and they come very very close to succeeding. This sends Carter into a protective frenzy as he tries to second-guess, outwit and destroy any and all threats against the love of his life. Emma comes face to face with her long lost sister and that stirs up dark memories and there's unexpected answers too but unfortunately her sister is about to be in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I've loved these two listens - this is equally as riveting, addictive and pulse-pounding as book 1 and this time there's a few more Chapters from Carter's POV. Both narrators did a great job at bringing all the characters and action to life.

Worth a credit? Yes.. and I'm eagerly anticipating Cole's story.

Excellent series

I really enjoyed the Carter Reed story. I was really hoping that Emma and Carter had a family. I hope the series continues through each character with their own story. I would really like to hear more about Cole, he sounds so interesting but overall it was a well written book.
