Publisher's Summary

From Paulo Coelho, author of the international best seller The Alchemist , comes a poignant, richly poetic story that reflects the depth of love and life. Rarely does adolescent love reach its full potential, but what happens when two young lovers reunite after 11 years? Time has transformed Pilar into a strong and independent woman, while her devoted childhood friend has grown into a handsome and charismatic spiritual leader. She has learned well how to bury her feelings...and he has turned to religion as a refuge from his raging inner conflicts. Now they are together once again, embarking on a journey fraught with difficulties, as long-buried demons of blame and resentment resurface after more than a decade. But in a small village in the French Pyrenees, by the waters of the River Piedra, a most special relationship will be reexamined in the dazzling light of some of life's biggest questions.

Beautiful performance

Loved the performance of Stephanie! her accent made me feel that I'm in fact in Spain. I liked the part of the story where the author describe the concept of "The Other". Seth Godin calls it the Resistance, Steven Pressfield calls it the Dragon. No matter what its name is, it is there to prevent you from doing what you are suppose to do in life. It wants to keep you safe and keeping you from doing your work and taking risk.

Wonderment!

At times the pull on my heart was immense. The longevity of youthful love was moving. The exposition of the Virgin as a goddess and feminine side of God was certainly thought provoking. Just love Paulo C.

Good love story

This story is a great love story with a twist. Unfortunately the narrator was not quite my favourite and near the end the recording gets a little scratchy. Otherwise over all it is worth a listen.
