Publisher's summary

Andrea Bartell is an international model whose jet-set lifestyle has kept her from her Texas home for five years. Noah Courtland is the man she left behind after a bitter breakup. He's in charge of her beloved Bridleton, and it's at the root of their emotional warfare.

Neither wants to rekindle the flames of their relationship, yet the desire hasn't diminished. It burns hotly, forcing them to deal with their pain and heartache. The unveiling of old promises and secrets might save their relationship, or it could destroy any chance of a future.

another great book

Becky Barker did a fantastic job of story telling in this book. I enjoyed the banter back and forth between the characters Andrea and Noah.
Johnny Peppers was a good one to do the narrating of this book.
This was the second book I listened to by Becky, I was gifted the second book then went out and bought this book and the third in this series, keep up the great work you two. I will be buying more of these audio books in the future and suggest you do as well.

Great Book!

Any additional comments?

This is a great book; this is the first book in the Bridleton series by Becky Barker. Andrea Bartell in an international model which has kept her away from her Texas home, Bridleton for the past five years. She left the love of her life Noah Courtland, after her sister’s death. She has received a message from her aunt telling her she needs to get home. She gets home to find out there is some financial troubles and they may have to sell the family ranch to Noah. She is determined to save the ranch even if she has to deal with her feelings and past issues with Noah.

The narrator Johnny Peppers did a great job with this book, and was very easy to listen to. He did a great job with the different voices of each character in this book. It was very easy to listen to in one sitting.

If you are looking for a book with a great story, and characters then you need to listen to this book. I am looking forward to listening to the next book by this author and narrator.

A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Got better and better.

Would you consider the audio edition of Bridleton to be better than the print version?

I hadn't read the print version, but hearing the book keeps the story and characters more prominent in my mind.

What does Johnny Peppers bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

The voice of Johnny Peppers added to the "cowboy feel" of the book. His voice makes you think tight jeans, hairy chests and dusty cowboy hats.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

There is a strong family theme in this book. At times it's very sweet, but it also has the anticipation of a sexual relationship that keeps you wanting more.

Any additional comments?

I really wasn't too sure I was going to like the book when I first started listening, but I found myself very anxious to get back to it every time I put it down. I really felt like it just got better and better. This was my first Becky Barker book, but I'm definitely going to go back for more!

Conflicted!

I like almost everything Becky Barker writes, but Bridleton isn't one of them. Andrea Bartell is a model traveling through Europe when she gets a phone call from her Aunt Annette that she needs to come home. It seems that the family ranch is in disrepair, and she and her siblings have to make some tough decisions like selling controlling interest to the ranch manager, Noah Courtland. Noah and Andrea have a conflicted past since neither one of them remembers the same facts. Noah thinks Andrea walked away leaving him with a shattered heart, but Andrea thinks that Noah played her and her sister. When she directly asked him if he had sex with Caroline, he didn't say yes or no. This is where I really started to dislike the book. It's just semantics and when the truth comes out, it's underwhelming and, frankly, cringeworthy. Noah was angry. Andrea was angry. Noah was horny. Andrea was horny. Their favorite word is nipple. Noah and Andrea had hate sex. Noah was condescending. Andrea was condescending and I think they were having a competition to see who could be the biggest loser. It was a tie. For Becky Barker, this is nothing like what I've become accustomed to reading. I hope this is simply a one-off! Johnny Peppers does a wonderful job with the narration. His well-modulated voice, perfect pace and intonation bring this story to life.

Really enjoy this

This was a nice easy listen that was very entertaining, at times very funny. Has great characters, a great plot with meaning and emotions. The author holds your attention with some serious issues of lost love, finding it again as well as learning to trust, a surprised that had broke up a love that was heart breaking. Andrea has a lot to learn, trust is a big issue here as well as reading between the lines which Andrea hasn't learned but she will. Asking the right question to get the right answers is another big issue. I found this to be a delightful romance with great characters that I fell in love with.

I thought the narrator did a good job, his character voices were good, as well as his character emotion. There was no background noise, no volume change, he normal voice is pleasant. I knew who was talking and what they were feeling. I enjoyed his narration and really got lost in this audio.

Andrea and Noah

This couple had some misunderstanding and miscommunications plus were very young. I was glad when they were brought back together they still had the pull to each and it was great to see them work through the issues. I look forward to listening to the second in the series also. Johnny Peppers did a great job with narration.
