Publisher's summary

Life’s a grind.

Living in a virtual game world sounds like the ultimate dream. Plenty of action, intrigue, and guess who gets to be the big hero?

But what happens when that digital reality gets flipped on its head? Bad guys are after your sweet loot, your fancy title is loaded with unrealistic expectations, and achieving such a high level comes with a big fat target on your back.

It isn’t long before Talon and company learn that, in an MMO, the daily grind is a literal fact of life.

Something has to give, so when a new crusader faction rolls into town, Talon senses an opportunity. Not just to get out of Dodge, but to navigate unforgiving terrain to the edge of the world where he can make a difference. Have a real impact. Be a real hero.

The catch? An awakened dragon, a city of cutthroats, and a mystical executioner with a sharpened axe to grind. Welcome to the first of a few very long days.

Great Followup

This is a great followup to to Reboot. It continues the story pretty much where the other book ended. The writing is solid and the characterizations are realistic and believable. My only real complaint is that the hero goes off on his own a lot more than he should. I missed his doofy brewer roommate and his aggressive pixie gal pal. They were there, but not nearly as much as I would have liked.

Over all, this is shaping up to be a great series.

Wonderfully done

Domino does a wonderful job at right a fantasy tale with elements of modern times lightly mixed in. The progression of the story was steadily paced which kept my attention on it perhaps too well (it's dangerous listening at ten and realizing it's two in the morning "moments" later). I'm looking forward to book 3. :)

So much better

Every complaint I had about the first book is fixed this time around. I connected more to the characters and I loved watching the world expand. Once again, the narrator was amazing, and even if you don't pick up this book you should look into other books he's narrated. If you like this kind of book, it's worth the credit.

Another great book in the series by Finn.
Well constructed and well written.

James had a great performance and made the story come alive again.

Worth the buy.

Amazing series

Love this series and this book was amazing. Great storyline and character development. Most of the book, i was on the edge of my seat trying to figure out how Talon was going to be able to pull off a win. I hope to see another installment but with how this one ended, it seems to be the last, but it was all tied up nicely so as to not need another.

smart and witty dialouge worth the listening.

Love this series explores some deep issues that you would have if somehow you were a part of a digital reality.

The plot thickens in the best way.

An absolute fantastic sequel this book was everything I was hoping for and so much more the character progression is amazing the author stays true to his writing style of the first book mixing action with mystery in a perfect combination that's absolutely a treat to read. The book definitely leaves you wanting more in the best possible way.

It was ok ...well written, just not for me

I guess I was looking for progression fantasy, and this was more of a classical fantasy adventure but in the context of a game. For example, they don't into great detail about the magic system, any discussion of stat allocation is minimal and not super interesting. The author gave the group a goal and wrote up some nice dialogue and the storyline develops organically.

I was looking for more magic and action. or a game hack that gives MC some crazy advantage.

I'm starting to recognize that just cuz the book wasn't what I wanted it to be doesn't mean that the book wasn't well written.
It's a good story. Idk if I'll keep going with the series, but I might. I'd still encourage ppl to check out the series and see how they feel about it for themselves.

A fantastic sequel, continuing the adventues with new friends? and foes?. Lucifers actions continue to unfold in unanticipated ways. I did request this book and have voluntarily left this review.
