Just better than average Laymon

This may be even more rapey than the Laymon usual. With a higher than average boob count as well. That’s not an easy thing to do.

Throw in a good-time sinister cult orgy, some inappropriate invisible shower fun and an appropriately high body count and you have a just better than average Laymon tale.

Some great concepts here, but they just didn't get fully realized. And yes, I still liked it.

Not bad for $5

Other reviewers commented on the rapey scenes and the descriptions of breasts. Remember, this was written in 1985 back when things were looser! The criminal character is a sleaze bag, so no wonder he enjoys raping women. It’s just a story, people. It was a quick listen between parts 2 and 3 of another book.

Porn/Action/Gore/Horror/Paranormal

HE NOTICED HOW HER BREASTS JIGGLED UNDER HER SWEATER.
This was written in 1985 and Tech wise, has that feel. The content has the feel of the seventies, when writers were more likely to be risqué. This is going to be way to harsh for some. For example: Chapter 2 is a blood orgy, chapter 3, 5, 7 and 32 include rape. When it is not happening, men and women are thinking about it. The last couple of hours is some of the most gut wrenching gross scenes I have ever listened to, and I have listened to a lot in this field.

IT WAS SAMMY INFLICTED
This is one of the better bad guys. He is rotten to the core and has the added advantage of being invisible. I was thoroughly entertained by this story. It is very different from most of what I have read. BEWARE, this book is not for everyone. This is for hardcore splatter porn fans only. Having said that, it is well written.

Raunchy but thrilling!

Raunchy but thrilling! First two chapters had me so confused I listened a few times before moving on, then it all came together!

False advertising, but normal hardcore horror

The description makes you think this will be a bloody, violent pretty average hardcore horror. And for the most part it is, but with a supernatural/sci-fi twist (not far enough to say which yet). That's all and well, except the characters are so beyond unbelievable and the story so far from what is promised it takes you out of it. I got this book for 5, so I'm not that disappointed by it. But if it was full price I would be giving it one star

Typical Laymon style

I have read several of Richard Laymon’s novels and this is the first audio version I’ve had. I wish I would’ve discovered Mr. Laymon many, many years ago. I enjoyed this story, maybe not as much as some others, but enough to consider it a worthwhile listen. The narration was OK - not great, but not bad. If you are a fan of Laymon, I think you will be entertained throughout the story.

I really enjoyed it

there are some scenes that are pretty hard to get through.. Gnarly and perverted and disturbing! But other than that.. I went into listening aware of such scenes and those combined with the action and the friendships and the romance and the paranoia and the suspense... Well worth it!

This was twisted

This was disturbing. It kept me guessing until the end. The bad guys were truly evil.

Good narration, bad story

The writing was good, but this entire story had the feel of being told by horny teenage boy. The author is apparently a complete idiot when it comes to how women actually think and feel. The female main character horribly written. I don't want to spoilers in so I won't into too much detail, but she appears to be what a teenage chauvinistic horny boy would think of a woman. The males aren't much better either and well the story is like a B level action movie.

The narrator was good given what he had for story, and overall this was well read with only a few minor mispronunciations.

Typical Laymon Story, severely bad narrator!

Typical Laymon Story although it was a little less believable than others. The WORST part of this version of Beware is the narrator.
He butchers this audio book so badly that you may not be able to finish it. Who thought this guy should be doing this?
This is what it sounds liket:
Neela turned around.......... She saw it........... crawling toward her............. Stop............... She said.............. Neela started backing up.............. Stop....... She said again.......... She turned.............. And ran..............
Think about the most annoying computer voice narrated video on YouTube that made your ears bleed, this is worse.
