Publisher's summary

Spanning three continents and half a century, this is the second in the series of books charting Benjamin Drum's life. Between Times traces the lives and wanderings of the families along Sorrow Creek in mythical Marshall County, North Carolina. Fans of The Summer Boy will delight to recognize some familiar characters and discover new ones to love among other mountains where Drum grows up and the Laurel remains as elusive and hidden as it is real and powerful.

Mark Twain like story but kind of dry

I was given this free review copy audio book at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

This was just not my favorite. It was very reminiscent of Mark Twain with more fantasy elements thrown in. I thought it could have been shorter. The fact that this was book two in a series, and I hadn't read the first one may have contributed to my not being able to get into the story. The main thing, though, was the narrator. It sounded more like he was recording a meditation track than reading a story of a young guy's adventure... I got bored several times and found myself completely tuning the book out at times. I honestly never finished the book because I just couldn't build up enough interest.

Disclaimer: "This Audiobook was given by the author, narrator, or publisher at no cost, in exchange for an unbiased honest review."

I always like to preface any reviews I give with this information.
I am a 68 year old female who has been an avid reader since I was around 10 or 11 years old.

I have a great interest in many things. Ancient History and Archeology are at the top of a very long list.

Review: Between Times Audiobook

This is book 2 in the Benjamin Drum Trilogy
.
What can I say about this amazing story that has not been said by others?

This is a story about the cyclical nature of life. It is beautifully written, so lyrical there are parts that brought tears to my eyes. This is a story of life, love, loss, and continuing forward.

This is a story of life in a singularity named Laurel, and truthfully, I tend to believe in this possibility personally.

On this side of death we don't know what happens to us when we depart this life. Departing from here is to my way of thinking, the unknown frontier.

The story line is a bit more involved and I actually listened to this twice since I found myself getting lost with all the multiple timelines of the characters. I will be listening to it again, and again.

Author Henry Mitchell has once again crafted a truly beautiful and spectacular book. I can only imagine that Mr Mitchell has a very wonderful and unique way of seeing life and I am so glad he shared that vision with us.

Narrator Wayne Paige once again wrapped me up in the magic of his voice and evoked so many smiles, a few laughs, and some tears as well. He is truly a very gifted voice actor and honestly, I would never tire of hearing him narrate a book.

I believe anyone from the age of 18 and above would find this book to their liking. It is a thinking person's book as was the The Summer Boy.

This Is a Wild Ride

Where does Between Times rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

In the middle

What did you like best about this story?

That Benjamin stayed true to himself

Have you listened to any of Wayne Paige’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

No

If you could rename Between Times, what would you call it?

It would be the same

Any additional comments?

I got this book via audiobook boom. the narration was very good. this book takes you on several wild rides with many twists. It is a long book and ends up where it started. Although complicated you just have to suspend your belief system and listen to the book.
