Publisher's summary

The story of a remarkable friendship - told in a remarkable way. A story in which every woman will recognize herself...and her best friend

Jillian Lawton and Lesley Adamski. Two girls from very different backgrounds become best friends in the turbulent '60s, but their circumstances and choices - and their mistakes - take them in opposite directions. Lesley stays in their hometown. She marries young, living a life defined by the demands of small children, never enough money, and an unfaithful husband. Jill lives those years on a college campus shaken by the Vietnam War, and then as an idealistic young lawyer in New York City.

But they always remain friends.

Through the years and across the miles, Jill and Lesley confide everything to each other - every grief and joy. Because the quality of a friendship is the quality of a life.

Bonus Novella: Home to Honeymoon Harbor by JoAnn Ross

The rivalry between the Mannion and Harper families has divided them for over a century. Which is why, when John Mannion and Sara Harper fall in love, they become the small seaport town's very own Romeo and Juliet. But in Honeymoon Harbor, nothing - not even an infamous family feud - is a match for love.

Depressing.

Every time something good happens to one of the main characters something bad in return happens to one of them

Great book about a lasting friendship and its power to help endure life’s challenges. Family and life dynamics and struggles that will lead to peace and understanding in the end.

Best Debbie Macomber yet

What did you love best about Between Friends?

When it started I thought I wouldn't like it but within minutes I couldn't stop listening and it brought back so many memories. Although I love most all of her books this one captured my attention and drew me in more than any other.

What other book might you compare Between Friends to and why?

I love the other Debbie Macomber books and think anyone who reads this would like any of her others.

Have you listened to any of Amy Tallmadge’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I am not sure but she did an amazing job!

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

When the first death occurred, I felt it personally and was so moved

Any additional comments?

Reliving history was so much fun and sparked emotions of forgotten events and corresponded with the characters.

Overall a great listen...

The format was a bit tough to get used to, but once I did, it was quite enjoyable. Storyline was good (as are most all of Mrs. Macomber's), some predictability but also some unexpected turns that helped to hold interest. Some of the finer details of legal documents were a bit distracting, but sparse enough that it wasn't a complete turnoff. Overall, a great listen. I hadn't read this title prior to listening, and I am glad that I chose this book ☺

Style was odd

I wasn’t crazy about the style, the way it was written with the envelope being read, etc.

Good story of lifelong friendship

Enjoyed story however did not care for format of reading entire book of letters and later emails between the characters. It was a bit tedious when they would read a form reciting every blank, number, instruction... could have just said arrest warrant for Buck Knowles or college app for Lindy Knowles...

Great format

I thoroughly enjoyed the unique formatting of this story and the lifetimes of these women
Bringing in the historical events brought my life back to me at each step

Such a delightful way to tell a story!

At first I thought I wasn’t going to like this book, but I picked it up a second time and as I got into it I found Debbie Macomber’s style in writing for this book intrigued my senses and kept me involved. I’m a 76 year old women so I could recall, and relate to, all of the history Debbie so cleverly wove into the communications between these two friends. But it wasn’t just history, this book told very personal stories, as well. Thank you, Debbie Macomber, for the ‘experience’.

The friends friendship

Had to much fillers like I did t need to know every single class and grade the characters had, or every detail of a drivers license that was read at least twice

Good story, tedious format

Liked the story, although very predictable. Detested the journal/letter/correspondence format. The dates, constant repetition of addresses, and prices of stamps, gas, etc. was cheesy. Wouldn't recommend.
