Publisher's summary

Internationally bestselling author Robert Radcliffe’s World War II novel Beneath Another Sun tells the story of a young fighter pilot’s odyssey from England’s grass airfields to the jungles of Thailand. Based on true events, the journey covers fighter ops over Suffolk, Mediterranean convoys, the code breakers of Bletchley Park, and the surrender of Singapore, to climax with the living nightmare of the Burma-Thailand railway. An unsparing account of the brutality of war, Beneath Another Sun is also a powerful tale of courage, redemption and love.

Gripping, Engaging History of WW II

If you could sum up Beneath Another Sun in three words, what would they be?

The writing and narration are so powerful I often felt I was in the story. Many times I cringed upon hearing the descriptions of the brutality of war.

What did you like best about this story?

I honor those who serve in the military. Hearing a deeper and different cut of this historical account gives me a better understanding and compassion for those who protect our counties.

Which scene was your favorite?

Although it was a relatively brief part of the book, the author's portrayal of pregnant Jenny standing up to her mother and father in the face of their anger and disappointment regarding her circumstances makes me proud to be a woman.

If you could rename Beneath Another Sun, what would you call it?

I like the name. I smiled when I finally heard it toward the end of the book.

Any additional comments?

The narration is fantastic! Mr. Mawson's use of dozens of voices is impeccable. I particularly enjoyed the Scottish brogues. Not sure how he kept all those characters separate. He has a gift, for sure.
