Publisher's summary

I've been Marshal for a few years since returning from the war. I'm about six-foot-tall, weigh 200 pounds with wide shoulders and a narrow waist. My hair used to be raven black, but is now turning gray. My mustache is also turning gray. I usually wear bat wing chaps and pointed toe black buckaroo boots with Mexican spurs, and the thing that I'm most proud of is the star pinned to my vest.

Great story for a short drive ☺️

My father who is a fan of the "John Wayne era Westerns" is never happy with my audible choices while driving to doctor visits.
Finally I found a book we could both enjoy.
This book is for all ages with no graffic descriptions or language.
And it has a good plot for a short Listen.
I really loved the equality and respect the men showed the women.

I have Listend to Kevin Iggens narrate other Western book's before and I have to say.. Westerns are his calling.
His voice is perfect for taking your mind into that era.

I was given this book by the author in exchange for my honest review.
My opinion is..for a book that entertains all generations this one is worth buying.

Entertaining western short story.

Any additional comments?

I thought this was an interesting story. I don't normally read westerns and this book made me rethink that. I would love to read more from Doc Patton. Good and entertaining. I hope there is more to come.

I was provided this book in return for an unbiased review.

A Good Short Western

Back at the Ranch was a good western short story. I like Gregory "Doc" Patton's writing. This was short, easy to listen to and nothing pretentious. I love just about anything to do with horses and cowboys and the old west. I like the way when marshal Michael Cane described himself, he said he was known as Black Hat.

Kevin Iggens did a nice job narrating. He had good voice inflections and spoke clearly with a true western accent. An overall nice, clean listen.

Good Western

This was a quick listen and a good western with all of the things included that you expect to have in a western. the story was developed and had several plot twist. The only issue I have with this author's book is the poems. They keep popping up. You will hear the event then you hear it repeated in a poem. Either let the book be a group of poems or let it be a story. The narrator was very good and went with the story. I got this book via audiobook boom. My review is my own.
