Publisher's Summary

WELCOME TO THE BOTTOM OF THE FOOD CHAIN!
Aside from being freakishly tall, Joe is just an ordinary divorcee taking his son, Danny, to the zoo for his weekend of custody. Everything is going great until a bizarre snake attack sends everybody in the zoo running for cover. It isn't long before Joe realizes that there is a lot more going on than a simple snake attack.
And if the hungry lions, roaring gorillas and charging elephants now free from their cages have anything to say about it, there is more bloodshed to come. All of the world's animals are attacking, and no one knows why. What they do know is that man is now on the bottom of the food chain.

Good Story of Animals and Humans Behaving Badly

Nothing deep or complex here. Tight plot, action and human drama all within the confines of a British zoo. Well written and a decent performance.

Brutal, yet entertaining!!! Of course it is!!!!

Any additional comments?

SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT. SPOILER ALERT.

I expected nothing the best from Mr. Wright and he delivered brilliantly!!

A reviewer summed up the characters perfectly....

Vix Kirkpatrick... "Joe is good man, his character is flawed and has the IRW usual aspects of heroism laced just enough with, WTF to make him believable.

Grace I found irritating, especially at the end. Bill was lovely and I think he could have played a bigger part. Shirley the necessary "nut job" was on hand at all the right moments, not enough back story on her. Mason? hmmmm a waste of space for me."
Perfect!!!

Two complaints:
1. Victor and Randall...too predictable and soooo boring! I prefer bad guys in this type of story to take me by surprise. I knew they were bad so it was no surprise what they did.

2. Why does everyone always have to die? I automatically know which characters will survive, which dulls a story just a bit. I can honestly count on two hands how many times a story has shocked me by not being predictable in that aspect.

Overall:

An amazing performer, narrating an amazing suspenseful, brutal, entertaining story from an awesome author (I really do love his stories)! Having them on audibles is a bonus!

Very, very good!

Very, very good!
Really enjoyed this book. I listened to the audioversion of it. The narration was great.
The story itself was awesome, such a great concept. I love Iain's writing, it just seems to flow and makes for very enjoyable reading.
Can definitely recommend this to pretty much anyone. It draws you in pretty much straight away and the character development is done so well that you find yourself detesting some while rooting for others.
Check it out.

Bad but...

The writing is dreadful, the narration horribly flawed but overall the experience was weirdly enjoyable!
