Publisher's Summary

In An Equal Music, his first novel since A Suitable Boy, Vikram Seth returns with a story both intricate and intimate, rich with music, art, humour, and emotion. On one level, it is a story about love, love of a woman lost and found and lost again....A chance sighting on a London bus, a letter which should not have been read, and a pianist with a secret that touches the heart of her music....Creating the illusion of life, it is a book about music, and about how the love of music can run like a passionate theme through a life.

terrible sound

It's a well written story but it simply doesn't match up to "A Suitable Boy". The narration by Robert Powell is good but the sound is so terrible I considered asking for my money back. Audible should take this book off the list until it has been remastered

Wonderful book, sound not so good

I had already read it on paper, long ago. Whatever Seth writes, something utterly different from what he's done before, is astonishingly good. His work has never disappointed me so far.
Robert Powell is a good narrator, though his female voices sound a bit extreme sometimes. I like it specially when he uses strong British accents (Michael's father, for instance).
The recording, though, sounds pretty much like an old tape. It would use a remastering.
