Publisher's summary

Desperate to stay home with her baby, Allie Harrod launches a new career. Sure, she dropped out of Girl Scouts because she was lousy at cookie sales, but makeup is different, right? She'll do anything to make enough money to cover her share of the household bills, but how can she focus on her business when her list of problems is growing?

None of her pre-baby clothes fit, her checking account is dwindling, and her mother-in-law has decided to move in! To top it off, her husband's attractive coworker suddenly needs his help every weekend. Middle sister Joan insists that God has the answers to all her problems, but Allie isn't so sure. Can she really trust him?

A lighthearted contemporary tale of family, faith, and fun, Age before Beauty is the second book in the Sister-to-Sister series from well-reviewed author Virginia Smith.

Allie's story is a blast!

Another winner from Virginia Smith! This second book in a 3 book series takes a look at the oldest of three sisters, Allie. Allie is the most outspoken of the three sisters. She's a novice psychologist, a fiercely protective mother, and a dedicated wife and sister. After giving birth to baby Joan, Allie experiences some feelings of inadequacy and even suspects that her faithful husband Eric, may have a wandering eye. As Allie struggles to lose some weight after giving birth, her self esteem is low, she's confused as to whether she wants to go back to work or stay home with her new baby. An unexpected knock on their door one night puts a strain on their marriage. Will Allie and Eric make it through this struggle? I suggest reading or listening to Book 1 first, but this book also does well as a stand alone.
The narrator, Lauren Holladay hits a home run again on this second book as well.

I highly recommend this book and the whole series. I really enjoyed it!

Virginia Smith does it again!

The very talented Virginia Smith releases book 2 in her Sister to Sister series. All three sisters in the series have one book that focus specifically on them. This book is Allie's book. Allie is the sister who takes no guff and has a great sense of humor. But, her marriage to Eric has its' challenges. The pretty girl Eric works with seems to have an eye on him. Allie is also struggling with decisions on whether or not to be a career woman or a full time, stay at home mom. And, a surprise visit from her mother in law showing up (with suitcase in hand) causes even more stress in Allie and Eric's marriage.

Allie's sister's Joan and Tori are closer than ever to help her walk through this season of tough decision making. The characters from book one have returned and that makes for familiar personalities that we got to know in the first book. Lauren Holladay stays consistent with the voices from the first book. Her voice is beautiful. I'm going to check out her other narrations. I think I even like it better than book one, which was great!

I'm really looking forward to the next book in the series!
