Publisher's Summary

Haunted by her past, Olivia Adler flees Boston for a beach in Florida, leaving everyone behind. Remaining a relative recluse in her self-imposed prison, she tries to turn everything off, wanting to feel nothing. But a new acquaintance won't let that happen. After being away from Alexander for a month, his voice constantly ringing in her head, reminding her that her inability to confront her demons will not only destroy her but also him, can she really be expected to want to feel again when it brings nothing but pain? Back in Boston, everywhere he turns, Alexander Burnham is reminded of Olivia. He tries to dull the ache left in his heart the only way he knows how - in the bed of a beautiful woman. But Alexander isn't about to lose the woman he loves. After a clue comes to light regarding Olivia's whereabouts, can he convince her to return to Boston with him? When a force that has lain dormant for months resurfaces, can Alexander still protect her from the unknown danger? And when Alexander comes face-to-face with a shadow of both his and Olivia's past, will he be able to tell her the secret that is threatening to tear them apart?

Very Disappointing

This book was just a drag on from the first book. I was hoping for a beautiful love story, but all I got was a ridiculously long drawn out let down.

Trilogy Review 2 of 3

The narration was good. See my review of Book 1 for more detail.

Book 2 is a little bit of interesting mixed with a whole lot of painful. The side stories and characters are actually pretty cool. However, the push-pull of Alex and Olivia is way OTT. They both are complete morons. I was like, "Well, good. Here are some relatively stable people that I hope they hook up with instead of each other because they are totally toxic, basket cases together." There's an almost cool twist….that never really materializes. Then…the stupid… it burns. Let's see. What to do when bad stuff happens? Hmm 1- Run. 2- Hide. 3- Booze. 4- Sex. Yes, very mature.

*****MINOR SPOILER******
Alex is supposedly a SEAL, yet he can't manage to stop a woman (who is supposedly in danger and needs a protection detail) from fleeing his house (for no damn reason other than she is an immature twat) even though she has to wait for an elevator in order to leave. Then, Mr. Security Expert can't manage to catch her outside, screams her name and then bends over SOBBING on the street having lost her. Alex is a SEAL? Hell no. Maybe an emotionally unstable florist but not a freaking SEAL. No way. Also, the "cleaner," Donovan, has to be the most incompetent criminal ever written. His "target" is a very gullible and dimwitted woman who regularly flees her security and has no clue to life, and he can't manage to abduct her? Give me a break.
********END OF SPOILER********

I'm still hanging in, though I really am regretting investing in the 3 books at this time. There appears to be good writing and a decent story underneath the many moments of pure stupidity. This one ends a bit happier, and promises better things to come. Still hanging in there and enduring. Hoping for a BIG payoff in Book 3 to make this all worth it.
