Publisher's summary

Joshua and Ruth Brookings are traveling by stagecoach to finally join their parents in Montana. Attacked by murderous outlaws, the teens barely escape with their lives and must survive in the barren Wyoming and Montana territories and escape the man who's hunting them.

Seven years ago, Jed Stuart ran away from home and joined Tom's gang. Jed is tired of the lawlessness and wants out. The only problem? He is the boss's right-hand man and will never be able to leave. And what's one more stagecoach robbery, anyway?

Can Joshua lean on God's strength to keep himself and his sister alive until they find a town? Will Jed be able to face his anger or will it consume him completely? All three are running - the hunter and hunted. What will happen when they meet?

Faith Story of the Old West

This story of the dangerous travel by stagecoach to Montana was a lot different than I expected. I was expecting a story about the hymn, A Mighty Fortress, and how it came about. That said, this is an excellent tale of two siblings who were traveling to the west to join their parents and were intercepted by Jed Stuart and his outlaw gang, who killed the driver. Joshua and Ruth Brookings, the brother and sister escaped into the woods, and miraculously eventually made it to their parents in Montana. Young Joshua was a crack shot and shot and wounded some of the thieves. There are some scenes that many listeners took exception to, but I do not. They portray the lives and choices that criminals made and still make today, unfortunately. Jed Stuart ran away from home at a young age, and killed often, with no remorse. The eventual way that Joshua, Ruth and Jed's lives eventually intersect again is a God thing, and I was thankful to see how it worked out. It wasn't a pie-in-the-sky ending, it was a realistic, but good one.
