Nothing could be more enchanting than a summer wedding - or two! - in Charleston's fabled Lowcountry. A centuries-old church, an avenue of ancient oaks dripping moss, a storied ballroom, a sand dune at sunset....
Yet when a stranger arrives, a long-held family secret could silence the bells ringing for the Muir sisters. Scandals surface, family bonds are questioned, and promises are broken and renewed.
In A Lowcountry Wedding, Monroe delves into the heart of marriage, commitment, and family ties.
Huffington Post calls the Lowcountry Summer series "the perfect beach read and a whole lot more".

Impossible to concentrate
I was so excited to read this story but am unable to finish it because the narration is so irritating to me. I will look for the book in the library at some point so I can finish the second half. I tried so hard to make peace with the voice reading the story, which is that of the author, but it is so shaky and obviously that of a much older person trying to read the parts of young people. Totally threw me off course every time I turned it on. Sorry, Ms. Monroe, just couldn't suffer through it.

Sacrificing the story for social commentary
Is there anything you would change about this book?
She is a great story teller and I loved the first 3 books in this series. But with each book the story starts slipping to fit in social commentary (or an agenda). I stopped listening to this book because the story was lagging and the social commentary started taking over the story.
What do you think your next listen will be?
I won't be listening to the rest of this series. not sure yet
What three words best describe Mary Alice Monroe’s performance?
performance in writing or reading??? writing for this book slipped. the new characters sounded a bit like the other male characters.
Could you see A Lowcountry Wedding being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
Any additional comments?
I loved the first three books. Please drop the social commentary and get back to the story.
