Publisher's summary

The first novel in a brand-new series - from New York Times and USA Today best-selling author Abbi Glines - about a small, Southern town filled with cute boys in pickup trucks, Friday night football games, and crazy parties that stir up some major drama.

To everyone who knows him, West Ashby has always been that guy: the cocky, popular, way-too-handsome-for-his-own-good football god who led Lawton High to the state championships. But while West may be big man on campus on the outside, on the inside he's battling the grief that comes with watching his father slowly die of cancer.

Two years ago Maggie Carleton's life fell apart when her father murdered her mother. And after she told the police what happened, she stopped speaking and hasn't spoken since. Even the move to Lawton, Alabama, couldn't draw Maggie back out. So she stayed quiet, keeping her sorrow and her fractured heart hidden away.

As West's pain becomes too much to handle, he knows he needs to talk to someone about his father - so, in the dark shadows of a postgame party, he opens up to the one girl who he knows won't tell anyone else.

West expected that talking about his dad would bring some relief or at least a flood of emotions he couldn't control. But he never expected the quiet new girl to reply, to reveal a pain even deeper than his own - or for them to form a connection so strong that he couldn't ever let her go....

Soo disappointing...

What disappointed you about Until Friday Night?

While I'm a big fan of Abbi Glines and a bigger fan of the Sea Breeze/Rosemary Beach series, this was kind of a let-down. First of all when I pre-ordered, it wasn't listed as a "teens" book, which kind of threw me off but whatever it's Abbi Glines and Sebastian York, how can it go wrong? Well IT DID.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

First, Olivia Song... ok female narrator, HORRIBLE interpretation of male characters. I was cringing every time she made West speak or any of the other boys.

Second, the second star is given to this review solely FOR Sebastian York because lets face it, it's f-ing Sebastian York and he's the ONLY reason I stuck with this book until the end.

Another female narrator please...

As expected with any Abbi book, it's a great story and a wonderful start to another series, Mr. York was as always great, Olivia Song however ruined it for me. It was very hard to tell which male character she was speaking as, with left me rewInding a lot to figure it out. Please go back to your old faithful narrators or simply choose a different female.

4 Stars across the board! YA Romance (PG)

This book is typical Abbi Glines, not that it's a bad thing cause I love ALL Abbi books! I think this one is more YA that most because it's pretty PG. How could you not fall for each of these characters after they have both been through SO MUCH! It's a very sweet love story about needing the right person to help get you through the rough days. As always I'll be waiting for more books in this series!

The narration is 50/50 for me! I love Sebastian York, even if his voice is a little old for West, and Olivia Song was great for Maggie but she wasn't good at all with the male voices. Her males all sounded like they needed to blow their noses :( The narration would have been perfect if it was read like a play and not by chapter.

Loved me some Field Parties!

What about Olivia Song and Sebastian York ’s performance did you like?

Loved Olivia but this was the first I listened of hers. As for Sebastian you can never go wrong with him. He has one of the most perfect voices I've ever heard.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes and I did. I was cleaning house and turned it on since I hadn't read this one. It was 6 hours of Angst, Lust and Love. Perfection!

Any additional comments?

Abbi Glines always keeps me entertained. This is not one I'd let my teen read but it's still an awesome listen or read all the same.

Perfect beginning to a new series!

I am so excited that Abbi Glines has started a new series!!
I love all the others and this one has started off amazing, as usual! =)

You'll fall in love wih Maggie and West, just like I did. Nothing more to say, just add it to your cart and get started.

I cannot wait to hear all the other boys stories. Gunnar's will obviously be hilarious. Nash's will be full of hope. And Brady's will be some epic love story that will melt us all.

I. Cannot. Wait.

Outstanding

I love Abbi's book. I'm not good in writing reviews, I don't know what to say. All I say is that all of her books are amazing.

Not New Adult

More like Young Adult. More immature than Abbi Glines other books. But still with quite enjoyable characters.

Sweet and intense

I really loved this book. The author did a great job of creating a world that has all sorts of richness and depth. I originally started reading this book, but life gets busy so I bought the audio version. Narration was great, characters were well drawn. I especially liked that sense of teenage longing - and optimistic certainty. Also, teenage trauma and parental loss (survivor of this myself) was realistically depicted. It made me want to listen to the whole series, which I'm doing.
