Danny's tall and skinny. Even though he's not "built", his arms are long enough to give his pitch a power so fierce that any college scout would sign him on the spot. Anti-climactic

The build up great, but the last chapter a let down and diffused the characters

amazing!

The story was well developed and written. coming from National City makes it sort of nostalgic to listen to. Also, someone who identifies as half mexican and half white makes it personal. I loved the messages about life that are within this book also!

Captivating and Inspiring

Terrific story about the lives of underprivileged youth of color, their struggles, and their passion to overcome in a society bent on stereotyping them and keeping them in containers. A story of courage, determination, friendship, love, and the hidden treasures of athletic talent among these youth. Loved it!

Excellent story. Would make a terrific film. Loved the relationship with Danny and Uno and learning about National City, CA through the characters.

Story moved pretty slow

I was trying this book out to see if it would work for an audio book club with middle schoolers. The story moved pretty slowly and I worry it won't keep their attention/interest.

Title says it all. Disappointed in writing. Sure did not see any reason to censor as some in AZ apparently did.

Great book good story

I thought it was a good story, the character were well developed, i liked the building of the relationship with Danny and Uno, overall a great read. The narrator was really good!!

outlook on someone elses life

This is what a lot of children go through today with being biracial. No one ever knows what a person goes through. I also think that people need to hear their child out because they need to know the truth.

Where does a Mexican whiteboy fit in?

A sweet short book about teens finding themselves and where they fit in with society. Danny and Uno become fast friends and there’s a lot of sole searching. An interesting easy read.

Seems like a good read, but bad narration.

Read the book instead. Sadly the narrator does not do the. Book justice. Making it difficult to say interested and listen.
