Publisher's summary

Addison Godwin is a nonglam - one of the one in 10,000 humans who is immune to vampire glamour and mind tricks. Her gift enables her to work as an auditor, enforcing the law that vampires and humans keep their distance from each other except in a purely nonphysical way. The law is necessary because when a vampire tries to have sex with a human, their bloodlust combines with their sexual appetite, and the result looks like roadkill.

Alec Corbin is a four-star master vampire with piercing blue eyes and intentions to get Addison into his bed. He promises he can be gentle, but Addison has seen way too many vamp/human crime scenes to go for that. She has no interest in the six-foot-four hunk of sexy vampire man candy, even if he is supernaturally hot.

But just because she audits (and sometimes executes) vampires for a living doesn't mean she hates them all. Her best friend, Taylor, was turned against her will. Now living as a slave to one of the crueler master vamps in town, she leads a miserable existence, and Addison is helpless to save her within the confines of the law.

Things come to a head when the vampire inquisitor comes to town, and Taylor is given to him as a sex slave. When Addison sees her best friend tortured, beaten, and burned with silver, she knows she has to do something - even if it means teaming up with Corbin and paying the crimson debt.

Contains mature themes.

Funny, Exciting, and Steamy!!!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?

I would absolutely recommend this audiobook to a friend because Crimson Debt is funny, exciting, and steamy all rolled into one amazing book.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Addison Godwin is my favorite character in this book. She is strong, confident, caring, and would do anything to protect the people she loves. She is head strong and unafraid of speaking her mind. She is fearless and stands her ground even when she is terrified. I can relate to her because I strive to be tenacious and self-assured everyday.

Which character – as performed by Mackenzie Cartwright – was your favorite?

Mackenzie Cartwright did an amazing job narrating this book. She really brought the characters and story to life. I would have to say my favorite character performed by Mackenzie was Alec Corbin. Even though she is a woman, she was able to bring out his sultry, masculine personality using the perfect tone of voice.

Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?

Crimson Debt made me laugh out loud at the banter between Addison and Corbin. You see, Addison is not easily swayed by Corbin’s good looks and charm, so when he tries to be suave with his sexual innuendos, she puts him in his place. It's hilarious how Corbin is amused by her sass, and he lets her know it which annoys her even more! It had me wondering how Addison was going to get herself out of the trouble she always seemed to find herself in. Ever heard the saying “don’t let your mouth write a check your butt can’t cash”? Addison’s mouth has a knack for writing them quite often, and Corbin takes great pleasure in cashing them in. ;) Remember me saying earlier that Addison is head strong and stands her ground even when she is terrified? Well, she proves that time and again when she is dealing with the evildoers in this book. I felt pride in her when she didn't let herself be intimidated by them.

Any additional comments?

I will definitely be purchasing the next installment in the Born to Darkness series! I can't wait to see what Evangeline Anderson has in store for the next book, Scarlet Heat!

Sensual, breathless to hear the rest of the story!

Where does Crimson Debt rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

This is the best story line I've ever heard, and the narrator is outstanding!!

What did you like best about this story?

The way the author drew you in with the exquisite details of her characters...I wanted to hear more after the story ended!!

What does Mackenzie Cartwright bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

Her talented way of adding depth and heat to each character was beyond what I could have imagined...she brought them to life!!

If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Love is stronger than death!

Any additional comments?

Please oh please write more about Addison and Corbin!!

I really enjoyed this book. The characters were so fantastic. All the intriguing drama and sex with the vampire really was very interesting and exciting. I really enjoyed Mackenzie as the narrator.

Naughty with a good story line

It gets a high filth rating from me which is great. The story line is good.

SPOILER ALERT… sorta

The down fall for me is there the repeated raping of the best friend and no human/vampire sex law as it causes horrible bloody death. No surprise that it works out for the main characters but the rape brings down the light read and the no sex law limits the steamy read.

Enjoyable but not Awesome

Contrary to the rave reviews, this book was not action packed or very exciting. It took a while for the storyline to develop but eventually was a fairly, if not slow, enjoyable book. It was decent enough to continue listening, but not "edge of your seat" excitement. The main characters were likeable and nice people, that's probably what kept me listening.
Most likely won't bother with next book in series.
Waiting for the book to be on sale is a better bet; over priced for quality of story.

Talk about walking a chalk line

I really enjoy Evangeline Anderson’s imagination. Her world of vampires and humans, acknowledgement with legal documentation (like a bungy ride) and auditors is brilliant. Then to add an auditor who has the hots for a vampire 🧛‍♂️ really set the scene for me to shout at Addison shut ur big mouth”, don’t anger the angry beast. An the submissive roomie? Anyhoo, great job as always Mackenzie

How Can She Be So Stupid?

Chapter after chapter, the main character talks to herself about how dangerous these vampires are and then completely disregards any warnings, rules, customs, or common sense. She constantly insults them and can't keep her mouth shut to save her life, quite literally. This would be fine for one dramatic and emotional moment or early on in the story before she knew better, but it happens constantly, cover to cover, over and over again. At some point, I'd hoped her big fat mouth got her killed like it should have 10 times over. The book is generally well written with a decent plot and the relationship is steamy, it's unfortunate it turns a good character into a biligererant bimbo. Great narrating too!

There were some good parts

Over all the story was ok, and some of the sex scenes were well written and compelling. This book was hard to get through because one of the main Character's was Very hard to like. The Heroine was constantly pushing the Hero away to the point of being just plain stupid and I wish she was going to get killed off just to end it. Which was a shame as the book had real potential. I should have listened to some of the other reviews. The little clip audible gives you to listen to hooked me, but when you get more in depth this one just falls short for me. Just not my cup of tea, plus the way women are treated in the book could be disturbing for many women that have gone through abuse.

Good Story

The story line is great! I'm definitely going to read the next book. I just wish the lead female character wasnt so annoying at some points in her book. I feel like stupidity was being portrayed as bravery and it got really annoying at certain points
