Publisher's summary

In a world where the League and its assassins rule, where betrayal and treachery are everywhere... the only survivors are those ones who are... Born of Shadows.

For Caillen Dagan, a defiant soldier of fortune, survival isn't a right, it's a brutal daily battle. Moving through the Ichidaian universe like a wraith, his brushes with the law and death are legendary. But when an act of rare heroism reveals his hidden birthright, he's forced into a world much more dangerous and cold-hearted than the bloody streets where he was raised-one of obscene wealth and lethal politics.

Ferocious and determined, Desideria serves as an official bodyguard for her queen. Born of questionable genetics, she will do anything to prove herself worthy of the weapons she carries and the position she's won by combat. But when she uncovers a ruthless plot to assassinate the queen and overthrow her country's government, Desideria is caught in the crosshairs.

Excellent contiunation of League story!

I had been waiting for a very long time it seemed to me for the next League novel. Then as always Ms. Kenyon knocked this one out of the park. This is a on the edge of your seat high adventure you never know WHO is going to come out of the shadows next. Mr. Graham is perhaps my favorite narrator, his voice is smooth and you can just transport yourself to this universe. So take my advice and buy this amazing audiobook. ENJOY!

A good "Date" book

The story was entertaining and was clearly written from a female perspective. If you ever had the urge to ask your girlfriend to sit through an audio book with you, you might just want to consider this book. There is action, there is romance, and no unpleasant loose ends that might interfere with what may turn out to be a very satisfying book. Afterall - it can happen anytime.

Great series. Worth every credit.

The story: The characters are believable and engaging. They are dynamic. The plots are interesting and fast-moving with just enough twists to keep a sharp mind attentive.

The performance: The reader was great. She really brought the characters to life. She made the action scenes and scenes with emotion really shine. I've since gone looking for other things that she reads.

If another installment of this series came available, it would jump to the top of my wish list.

The end was kinda lame, but the fights were awesome. Narrator needs a better female voice it was horrible.

Loved the mix of Sci Fi and Romance!

This was my first Sherrilyn Kenyon book ever! and I loved it! Holter Graham just made this book for me. I don't know whether or not the first three books are worth buying to read (I don't think I'd like the readers given the samples) but I did get the next book -- both of them on sale, and have enjoyed the ride. Might check out some of her other books now given how much I enjoyed this one!

The more I listen the more I love it.

Would you listen to Born of Shadows again? Why?

Yes and Yes. I have listened to this story several times now and it has gotten better with each time. There are nuances and character references that I just did not get the first time through so it's still captivating.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Oh that is hard to say the characters are so well developed that I either love or hate them all, depending on weather they are the good guys are not.

Have you listened to any of Holter Graham’s other performances before? How does this one compare?

I have found that Holter Graham is a very consistent reader and has the ability to even make authors that I would rather not read a treat to listen to.

The League Book 3

Third in The League series doesn’t disappoint as it continues with the story of Caillen Dagan, young brother to Shahara Dagan in Born of Fire.

Both hero and heroine are likeable with supporting characters in Darling Cruel, Fain Hauk and his younger brother Dancer. You’ll meet Maris Sulle, who has greater roles in subsequent books.

Syn Wade and the Dagan sisters make a reprise appearance.

Desideria is a strong female character who discovers Chayden Aniwaya is her brother.

The narrator is easy to listen to although there is little distinction between character voices. Andarions have thickly accented voices and the narrator neglects to give Hauk and Fain that distinction. He also mispronounces Nykyrian’s surname, which I is a pet peeve of mine.
