Publisher's summary

She’s a martyr. A myth. A ghost. A legend.

She’s my soulmate and my captive, my conscience and my wrath. I love her too much to let her die; I fear her too much to wake her from her slumber.

She’s mine. And now she’s gone.

He’s unnatural. Undying. Unethical. Unstoppable. He’s the keeper of lies and lost souls. Mine slipped through his clutches.

I am his wife, his queen, the love of his very long life.

And soon, I will be his executioner.

Book 3

Listened to all of these books, hoping the underlying story would get better. It didn't. The psychological abuse and manipulation the king delves out churns my stomach. But the fact the heroine KNOWS he's doing it and goes along with it, just makes it worse. I wish I could get my money back for all of these books.

Omg this story. I could not store listening.

The story line, the plot twists, the love triangle. I love this whole series. I couldn't stop listen. I became emotionally involved in the description and rooting for them. I have already started recommending this to friends and family.

Fantastic End Filled With Suspense

I loved this series so much. It was gory, visceral, painful, tragic, and yet filled with so much hope and perseverance. Love can be a poison, but compassionate, persistent love can be the antidote.

I have to admit, right up until the very end I wasn’t sure how this was going to play out. Serenity could kill the King, and it would completely legit if she did, and I’d have been sad, but totally ok with it. But, it was equally possible that she, being the smart cookie she is, might find a way to keep him alive AND save the world.

I love the slight of hand of getting only snippets and pieces of each of the characters plans so, as the reader, you can never be 100% certain of what the outcome will be, because the two options seem equally likely.

Again, I didn’t love the narration on this one. However I think it’s a personal preference more than poor narration. Her speech cadence is just kinda off to me. She certainly does a good job of voicing the characters and telling the story. And I’ll listen to it again for sure.

So, so good.

The first two were better

I preferred the first two books better. There were so many twists and turns and surprises and un fathomable things going on. Just a smidge too much this Could have been split into two books at least. But still I really am enjoying Laura Thalassa’s work.

Original

5 Stars for the trilogy. Epic and original. Loved Serenity as kick-ass heroine. I want more off this.

Love the story, The narrator could be better

The story is great, it keeps you tied in and on your toes. I literally could not stop listening/reading (had to buy the physical book to read while at work). Laurel did a fantastic job with the series in general. The first book leaves you having questions that you must read the second and third book to find out. The romance in this book was not what I expected but hooked me in as I got further into the book. If you like romances that are not predictable, please read this book. Now I am not a fan of action and books that are about if the world practically ends but this is different because it's not about how the world ended& now people are just trying to survive. It's more on how to fix it!

Now the only thing I don't like is the narrator's poor attempt at faking a french accent. Annoying but bearable.

If you like Mortal Instruments, The Throne of Glass series, or the Red Queen, you will love this.

Caught me by surprise!

Okay, okay, okay.....so I willingly admit that I came to the wrong conclusion at the end of the 2nd book (epilogue) in where the author was going to take the 3rd book....I was wrong! I thought he would have slept with other women, married or worse have children while Serenity was asleep for a ridiculous 104 YEARS but that was where I was incorrect. But come on.....a man not having his needs met for a 100 years?? At least the author kept that at bay. Thank God! To her credit there were a few surprises that I didn't see coming and I was happy with that. My biggest praise for this author was that she kept this series from being a love triangle!! I hate those with a passion!! Narrator did an okay job but she did delay after her sentences that I had to overlook and not let irritate me. Serenity was still that strong, skillful, stubborn, fighter but yet fought for what was right and for the people of all races and her King did make a turnaround for the good although a struggle if not for Serenity in his life. Still struggled a bit with her falling in love with a narcissist but they still had their HEA ending for which I am grateful.

Great Series

This series is based around a fictional WWIII. The USA is not the winner this time. The Main character basically falls for the new World king who’s feelings are complicated by the emotional cost of the war. After being placed in a sleeping device for nearly a century while the king tries to heal her Cancer, she’s finally awoken to a world still at war. She awakes angery and bitter for being kept in stasis while things have continued to worsen. In the conclusion of this series she strives to finally bring the world peace. I like the authors unique plot and emotional development of the main characters. However, the book could have used more back stories. It lacked the details that make alternative fictional histories believable. There also was little balance, too many people were killed off. Making the plot sometimes seem unrealistic. Still despite the drawbacks it was still a good series.

Blew me away!!!

WOW! What an amazing conclusion to the series. I'm blown away by how much I loved this series. I'm really drawn to the female characters that are fighters. I would compare Serenity to the very popular Katniss Everdeen from Hunger Games. The stories are not alike, but Serenity has that same underdog feel to her where she is willing to fight for what is right, even if it means her own death.

While Serenity almost steals the show, Montez is just as much as a draw for this series. He's the ultimate anti-hero. He's the bad man that you can't help but love. His and Serenity's story is very powerful that goes against all odds and I was fascinated!

I would love to see this made into a movie. I think it would be just as popular as the Hunger Games and Divergent. I highly recommend! I also recommend the audible books. Laurel Schroeder really brought this story to life.
