Publisher's summary

Nukes on your honeymoon...sometimes life's just not fair! Meet retired cop, Sam Prichard. Sam and Indie are finally married, and off to enjoy their honeymoon in beautiful Hawaii, but sometimes fate has a cruel streak! When Sam notices something odd as they're departing Denver, and then finds out that terrorists have planted small nuclear bombs in 12 US cities including Honolulu, he's on the case, honeymoon or not! With Indie's computer hacking skills to help him, he finds the nuke and captures the terrorist who planted it, but he's not done yet. Old friend Harry Winslow from Homeland Security needs a man who knows what they're up against, and the honeymoon gets cut short so Sam can get back to Denver and track down the terrorist cell behind it all! How does a simple private eye end up saving the country? Well, if it's Sam Prichard, it's all just a matter of being in the right place at the wrong time! The only questions is whether he can stop the terrorists from carrying out their evil plot before thousands of Americans die!

High stakes

Sam's honeymoon is put on hold when a terror plot holding the entire continental United States hostage takes center stage. It's an ambitious concept, but the plot holds up surprisingly well for the most part. There are no small cases for this detective.

Another fun read.

Love this series! Good clean fun mysteries. So far I've read the first 4 and have enjoyed them all, looking forward to the rest of the series.

Fascinating thriller series!

Love and War is Book 3 in the Sam Prichard series by David Archer. Archer self publishes his novels including the audiobooks using Mikael Navamore to narrate. There are 8 books in the series; all except two are approx. 5 hours in length and the other two are 4 hours in length. Sam Prichard is an ex-cop who was forced to retire after being shot three times in the hip. He now runs a detective agency out of his home. He hired a young hoimeless woman hacker to help with the agency. Her name is Indie (for Indiana) and she has a young daughter named Kelsey whose father is dead. Sam and Indie get married early in Love and War. Sam Prichard is also lead singer and song writer in a country music band. Most of the audiobooks in the series include original music.

I have previously written reviews of A Grave Man and Death Sung Softly, the first two books in the series. The genre Love and War departs from modern detective to espionage. All of the other books in the series are light and fun while Love and War is more serious.

Love and War is about terrorists seeking to detonate small dirty nuclear bombs in 12 US cities. It is a fascinating story although Sam Prichard is clearly no match for heroes like Mitch Rapp, Court Gentry, Gabriel Allon, Dewey Andras, Jonathan Quin, Jericho Quinn, or Jack Ryan.

Narration of the series is consistently outstanding. I'm not a country music fan, but the original music aspect is interesting.

David Archer has a winner with Love and War

With a world that has people who hate the way it does. We need strong models who are willing to put aside self to keep us all safe. Thanks for giving us Sam and Indie. Enjoy this one too.
