Poor narrator choice

The book was written from the men’s perspective so why have a woman narrate??? Odd. Would have made for better storytelling with a male voice.

Not Much Chemistry

I listened to the audio version of the book. The narration was pretty good. The story....meh.

One thing that bothered me was the description that read, "On the run and out of time, Burke and Cole will fight for their future with Jessa. But, will Jessa's secret bring them together...or read them apart?"

Based on the description , it sounds like Jessa's secret came out "while" they were on the run. Ummm...slightly misleading. That is, of course, if Jessa's secret is what it appeared to be.

Next, I'm not a big fan of alternating between past and present throughout a story. I don't mind having to refer to the past, but I prefer that it be done all at once and then move into the present. Or, that it has to be done to reference a specific issue, like the Marco situation. But, the constant back and forth was irritating.

Cole, Burke, and Jessa's situation, I could see both POV's. If Cole and Burke could go on the run with burner phones, they could have used one to call Jessa. At minimum, they could have informed her to contact Gavin, if she needed anything. Their job responsibilities have them doing more in-depth research than they did for someone they supposedly loved.

I understand Jessa being angry. I understand irl that often anger doesn't dissipate as quickly as it does in a novel, but in my romance novels, after the explanation was given to Jessa, I though her anger would gradually dissipate. They were wrong for not making arrangements for her, but for her to retain that anger after finding out what they had been doing was also irritating. Also, they DID give her a way to get in touch with them. No one expected the series of circumstances that made it impossible for her to reach them.

I didn't feel the chemistry between them. I think it was lost for me while moving between past and present. It took me out of the moment when the attraction was developing.

I would give this 2 stars, maybe 2.5.

Need a male narrator

Where does Their Virgin's Secret rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

I listen to a great many audio books and on a scale of 1-10 this would rank about a 4 1/2 only because the narrator just didn't pull you into the story. When reading the heroes lines, it sounded very corny at times. This narrator would be great for a book that is written from a female character's point of view, but definitely not a male's- especially an alpha male.

Who was your favorite character and why?

Cole, because he is the lost one until he meets Jessa.

How could the performance have been better?

A male narrator! There are a lot of great ones out there and I really wished one had been used.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

Yes, I had an extreme reaction- disappointment! I liked the story, just not the way it was delivered. I like Shayla Black's books but this one could have been narrated so much better.

Any additional comments?

Please use a male narrator for any other books that have strong male characters. Serena Daniels is a good narrator but I think she'd be better sticking to just female characters. I listened to this book before the 1st book in the series and now I'm not so sure I want to buy and listen to the 1st book since it is narrated by the same person.

NOT MY FAVORITE SHAYLA / LEXI

Any additional comments?

The narrator was not very good at doing different voices or her emotions. I felt there was too much inner turmoil being voiced by the characters...some of them over and over throughout the book. I got to the point where I just wanted to scream if I heard it one more time. I love Shayla Black, however, I think this one was "phoned in"... I know you can do better...so I will be waiting for your next book!!!

The book was really good but would of been better if it's was longer. Way to short form me.

So terrible I was compelled to keep listening

This was a free book along with the first one and where so bad it was like watching a train wreck. If you want a laugh at how truly bad the writing and narration are this pretty epic.

Hot and Steamy!

This was a fantasy reading for me. Great narrative loved the storyline between the brothers falling in love with one female woman Jessica . They shared everything! Would like a follow up on their married life . Good reading

Narrator is awful

Her dom voice sounds mean not sexy. Rest of her voices were pretty bad too. Story was okay, could have been fleshed out a lot more.
