Publisher's summary

Seeking refuge, Abigail Watson returns home to mend a broken heart, abandoning the city that she has grown to love and the job she worked hard for years to attain.

Life allows for distraction, but it can't bury the past.

Jack Landon has left an indelible mark on her.

A painful scar, a stolen kiss, a memory of what once was, or could be.

Jack is all of these things, and more. The haunting memories begin to consume her with an unbridled passion.

His domination is absolute. Her submission begs for release.

Their lustful needs could destroy everything around them, turning flame to ash, friend to enemy, love to hate.

Where there's smoke...you will find the Devil's Fire.

Cheesy

A little bit cheesy. Unfortunately I cannot return the trilogy as I finish the second book and not enjoying it. The side stories of Ivory are entertaining. As about the story of Jack and Abby...I don’t like it.

WTF????!!!

The only good thing about this book was the narrator! The female is so weak...too much for me to bare. Jack never explains why he hurt Abby. And Rose...poor Rose. If you like a weak female in love with a blood loving arrogant rich prick...this is the book for you. I loved the narrator.

Well now...

Loved the first book, it felt over and left me with a cliff hanger. I couldn't wait to read the next one!!! And I was not let down what so ever. I normally don't read romance books but I really love this series, it has just enough darkness to keep you on your toes. The turns that this read takes took me by surprise I had no idea!!!!! Can't wait for the next one!!

Spellbinding and unexpected

Once I finished the Devil's gate I knew I. Had to finish the journey I had begun and I am fully intending to do so even with all the unexpected twists and turns I have to see it through. Reading this series has been kind of like feeding an addiction just as many other books have been and any bookaholic knows what I'm talking about. I look forward to continuing and completing this journey and revisiting it time and time again.

Listen For Review - Mid Series - Tough To Catch Up

*I agreed to listen in exchange for review. I was at a disadvantage listening to this book, as it is the second in a three book series.

Abigail has come home after having a torrid affair with Jack, a man who married another woman right in front of her.

As Abigail tries to heal, strange things happen around her, to her, to her friends and others that she loves.

The end is a cliffhanger, of course. But some strange characters and actions had me confused.

I recommend starting with the first book, as this is not a standalone.

Sierra Kline does a wonderful job with an array of characters, from the broody Jack to the crazy gypsy who reads tarot cards.

Notes: Mature themes including cutting

I think this would be an R rating in movie speak.
Stars: 4 for performance, 3-4 for story and 3.5 overall

I enjoy leaving reviews, as I know that I read the reviews of others before I purchase a book. If you found my review helpful in your decision about this book, would you please select yes directly below this paragraph? Thank you so much.

Please consider "following me" here on Audible.com. I purchase a lot of books by well known and authors that I am familiar with. I also have the opportunity to review books in all genres, many that I would not pick up on my own. I have been pleasantly surprised by new authors and narrators.

Pain is her Friend

Where does The Devil's Fire rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?

On a scale of 1-10, I would say a 7. I never would have picked this book on my own. I usually go for a typical romance, erotica, or paranormal.

What did you like best about this story?

That is hard to say , I guess it would be the mystery and how I just did not predict what would happen next.

Which character – as performed by Sierra Kline – was your favorite?

I think it was Abigail's Mother. She was so interesting, funny, so new age, with a past so connected to her daughter's present, and with a healthy sex drive for her age.

Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?

No, but very few books I read do make me laugh or cry. My reaction to the book was so mixed, probably even confused since I didn't read the first book.

Any additional comments?

The secondary characters were interesting and flushed out well. Many times while reading this book I thought it was going to be a paranormal but turned out it was not, I would have loved that. It had a good rhythm, a good pace, tons of mystery, and a great ending. The narration was fantastic!

So many secrets and emotions!

--I was given a copy of this audiobook in return for an honest review.

Book two was just as good as book one. I couldn't wait to continue this journey with Abigail and Jack. This story picks up with heartbroken Abigail. She returns to her hometown where we get to know her mother much better. The journey Abigal embarks on to try and forget Jack is dark, suspenseful and at times even funny. I especially loved the secondary characters in this book. Avery gave Abi some much needed friend time and relief from her problems. Ani's reconnection with Sam results in a partnership, and I am still loving to hate Victoria. We learn more family secrets, and enjoy some passionate scenes between Jack and Abigail. Still am trying to figure out how to fix Jack. But it is almost as if he will be beyond repair. The ending chapters reveal a secret that is going to change the lives of both Abi and Jack, effecting both sides of their families and of course, the cliffhanger has me looking for the last book of the trilogy.

Sierra Kline again gives us an amazing performance. She differentiates her charcters well, and they sound just as I would imagine.
