Publisher's summary

There is nothing Connor Malone wants to do less than babysit the outrageous and out-of-control pop star Lyric Jones. But part of him relishes taming the celebratty songstress and showing her what it's like to be possessed - body and soul - by one man. And though Lyric's crazy antics nearly drive Connor to the edge, his quiet intensity penetrates her defenses, leaving them both vulnerable to the secrets that could topple Lyric from the stage.

Critic reviews

"Strong on both plot and steaming-hot sex, there's also a delicious mix of humor and tenderness." ( Romantic Times)

What happened???

Would you say that listening to this book was time well-spent? Why or why not?

It was just OK. After the previous books leading up to this one, especially book 4, let's face it I was expecting "more than ordinary". This book is just ordinary. Maybe even plain boring.

Would you be willing to try another book from Maya Banks? Why or why not?

Of course. I've enjoyed too many of her books not to try another one.

Which scene was your favorite?

The pool party was a hoot.

Any additional comments?

I would probably pass on this book. It's just not interesting enough for me, even though I LOVED all the previous books in the series.

Best Book of the Series

I loved Connor and Lyric story. Sooo good. Lyric's wild antics and Connor's NO bullcrap attitude was perfect. Could have used more smex, especially for the Sweet Surrender Series but this was the best book in the whole series. I read this one first and I'm glad I did. After reading all the others, I must say this is the best story, and they are Vinalla!!!! Worth the buy or credit.

I like how you can read/listen to all the other books NOT in order. You can pick and choose your order. Each book gives you more background on other characters, but they are not nessarcy for the book ur listening too. Goood way of writing. Maya Bank is usually a follow the leader or book follow book writer. So for you not to have to go in order and still have a really good read/listen, plus understanding all the characters is pretty impressive.

Actually it was the discription of the other characters in this book that made to go back and read/listen to the other books. I wanted more background, but it was not need, I just wanted it.

Narrator is good. No prob there... She is not Xe Sands, but very good for this sereis.

So. Much. Talking. Hot this was Not.

This Sweet series offers variations of domination, but this one was so tame, when the single “dominating” scene happens (ch27), it feels completely off. And by then, I was comatose with all the talking... about loneliness ... and feelings ... and trust. Ugh. I. Couldn’t. Even. Worse book in the series.

The storyline also felt off. It starts with a sanctimonious lecture by Connor about how her current “security” weren’t legit since they were sleeping with her... and yet that is exactly what he, as her new security proceeds to do. And she’s in danger from a stalker who never does anything but leave notes and messages. Tame stalker to go with the tame romance, I guess.

The only good parts were when the ladies from the prior books got together with Lyric. But side character interludes do not a good romance make. Listen to the ladies hair dye incident and pool dye incident (ch 23 & 25) , and move on to the next book.

Loved It

I read alot of the reviews and I am a little disappointed. When reading a series of books extending to different characters why would you want all of the characters to possess the same characteristics? I loved it, it was a nice break from all the "crazy" sex with a great story line.

I highly recommend listening!!

Another great installment in the Sweet Series

Who was your favorite character and why?

I love Conner-he's a stand up guy

What does Caroline Wintour bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?

She gives each character their own voice. She is fantastic.

Any additional comments?

Some complain it is not a realistic storyline....come on! This is a fun book about a bodyguard protecting a 'flawed' pop star. As with all the Sweet Series, adult themes and language. One of my favorite in the series.

Love Conner - Love the "girls"

The story and vanilla sex is this story worked for me. But what really worked for me was when all five Sweet Series women got together. The pool scene was a huge LOL for me. Ms. Banks - please keep them coming.

do not waste your credit

What would have made Sweet Possession better?

this story does not follow the sweet series story line, just the characters are repeated.
All the sweet stories are closer to erotica than romance. This one is so ordinary, it is almost as if Ms Banks needed to meet a publishing dead line.

What could Maya Banks have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Follow her other outlines a bit closer

What didn’t you like about Caroline Wintour’s performance?

this is a bad reader, but if you like Ms Banks erotica, you have to put up w/Wintour's bad breathy voice. Awful

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

none, waste of listening hours. I kept thinking it would get better

Any additional comments?

all other sweet stories are good for erotica, but again you must be able to endure a bad reader voice. book4, 2, 6 are the better ones

Worth the credit just for Connor!

So I'm jumping around again but that is because it is what's available in audio. I am not patient when it comes to a series. After going from book 4 to book 1, we now end up with Connor & Lyric.

I liked the plot of the story. Completely believable especially seeing that Lyric is a pop diva. Sadly, the sex scenes weren’t nearly as earth shattering as in book 4 & 1 but then again, not every character has to be a BDSM “House” card carrying member. I love the new character introduced, Kane, especially at the end of the book.

I will admit I loved when the girls got together! They are hilarious. I could see myself just hanging out with them!

Again, nothing but positives for the narrator!

Beautiful

That was truly a beautiful story, the sex was more tame for those who like the more strait laced, while still being hot and steamy. Nothing too crazy in there. The narration was great as usual, but really this was a Really interesting and amazing story! It reminded me of why I love to read Maya Banks..... my
