I was tempted to bail on it at first
as the first third of the book drags very badly, both from a plot with a l-o-n-g setup, and an audio narrator who talks very s-l-o-w-l-y. I spent quite a bit of time wondering where this was all headed? However, once an actual murder occurs the action kicks in and the rest of the book is a race to see whether the villain can pull things off. Characters are well-differentiated (narrator is quite good in that regard, causing my skin to crawl whenever she spoke as the creepiest character) and the local scenery becomes an interesting part of the story.
Recommended if one keeps the faith about the book getting better. I'd definitely read another by this author, although he's got to tighten future plots.

It's not worth the 1 star I have had to give it
Everytime I switched on to listen I did not get very far before I had to switch it off. The story did not have the ability to hold my attention.
