Night at the museum, indeed!
This story of 28-year-old Brenton Martone, the newly-hired museum night watchman, on his first night of work for collector Dawson Plumber is an inventive idea with the usual sexual engagements. But they are not described in a common manner. There are exquisitely sensual descriptions of bodies and sexual pleasure, no raunchy or explicit language. And the narrator's whispery voice worked well with this story's sensuality.
Brent, as he likes to be called, is hired to watch over Dawson's "gentlemen," his personal collection of 13 classical male nudes, both masterpieces and less known sculptures. They include sculptures of David, the thinker, the Celtic soldier, the Satyr, Priapus, Mercury, several Adonis sculptures, the Dying Gaul (a dying Celtic soldier) and others. Brent is so turned on and needy that he only experienced desire and no fear from sculptures that come to life, some with scary looks. I wish his reaction was a bit more realistic, though he does complain to Dawson after the 1 night as a result of not being told what to expect. But it didn't change his behavior. He had absolutely no hesitation, only surprise and sexual hunger.
