Publisher's summary

I have no idea why she auctioned off her virginity for a cool mill. Regardless, I'm now the proud new owner of a perfectly intact hymen. A lot of good that will do me. I have certain tastes, certain sexual proclivities. My cock is a bit more discriminatory than most. And training a virgin takes finesse and patience - both of which I lack. Sophie Evans has been backed into a corner. With her sister's life hanging in the balance, the only choice is to claw her way out, even if that means selling her virginity to the highest bidder at an exclusive erotic club.

When Colton Drake takes her home, she quickly learns nothing is as it seems with this beautifully troubled man. Being with him poses challenges she never expected, and pushes her to want things she never anticipated. A sinfully seductive erotic romance where everything has a price and the cost of love is the highest of all from New York Times & USA Today bestselling author, Kendall Ryan.

Great Story Line But...

Any additional comments?

I am writing this review based on Book 1 and 2 together

I really enjoyed this book. I loved reading a different twist on the millionaire meets the naive virgin story that has been told many times. I found myself really excited to see what happens next.

I loved that it wasn't an instalove story. Even thought it takes place over a few months the author showed the time passing so it wasn't always feeling like one day immediately after another.

I loved that the reaction to the "secret" was reasonable and not blown over the top and I loved that the resolve was also reasonable and didn't consist of either of them loosing themselves or doing something they didn't want to do.

Now for what I DON'T love...

I have a pet peeve with books that are two short novellas that should have just been one book. Why are we doing this?? It seems to be a trend that I'm seeing now and it is irritating. I don't feel like this book should have taken up TWO of my audible credits and I don't think I would have wanted to pay the almost $30 I would have had to pay for both books. I would love for someone to explain why this is being done outside of making more money for what should be one book.

Second the narrator had a great female voice and did great with the female parts, however I really wish she had a different tone for the male voice and would commit to it each time. There were times where I would have to pause the audio to do something else and then I would come back mid chapter and have to try to figure out who was speaking between the two main characters. I like when I can vision the male based on the voice and the character the author was writing should not have had a voice so feminine.

This could have been a 5 star book for me if not for these two things.

Dejavu

As I was reading this, I could not get past the feeling that I had read this before. This book starts off like CL Parker's "A Million Dirty Secrets: Million Dollar Duet". However, I thouht Parker's book better. Also the narrator, Ava Erickson, can't narrate a male voice. At times I could not tell who was talking. Sophie or Colton. There are no real twist or turns. I do not love this book. The basis of the story is being desperate for money and auctioning herself off. Nothing new or creative about it. For me it is just average. I had gone ahead and bought the other two books so I will press on.

Good but would be better with 2 narrators

The only reason I docked this a star is it would have been better with 2 narrators. This female parts were great, but she didn't really have a deep enough voice to pull off the male point of view parts in my opinion but ice heard worse so ill still just listen to the concluding story instead of reading.

Entertaining story not great.

I enjoyed the story and it was an entertaining read at the reduced rate. I recommend this audible book at sale prices but not at full price.

Narrator had a cute voice and was good with the main character's voice but fell short at the male voices and supporting cast. Half the time I thought I was listening to Sophie speak and realized it was Drake or another character.

Absolutely needs a narrator

This book needs a male narrator. It would have made for a better listen. Sadly, it fell short.

Non-BDSM Fifty Shades FanFic

I’m still diving into part two because this book ends on a cliffy but there was just nothing noteworthy about it except maybe that they never actually have sexual intercourse... which is strange when you start at a sex slave auction. Otherwise it was pretty predictable and fluffy but it wasn’t funny or particularly dramatic. There’s one big secret that, again, was pretty predictable and is revealed right at the end. It’s a very short book as is book two so I’m very glad I’m not paying for them or using a credit. Really hoping boom two picks up some momentum!
Also, this should have been duel narration but if you COULDNT do duel narration, pick a narrator that can do a decent male voice. This narrator’s m/f voices were just barely distinguishable.

Cliffhanger but really good!

This was my first time reading a book by this author. I’m hooked! I just wish I knew her novels were cliffhangers. I just hope she doesn’t drag out the stories just to make fours for the money.

Warning: cliff hanger

Good story but it is a cliff hanger. If you don’t like cliff hangers, go ahead and get next book or don’t get this one. Wish the narrator could do a better job of making a distinction between the male character and female character with her voice. Both characters sound alike.
