Publisher's summary

Having spent most of her senior year flying under the radar, the last thing Ella Lockhart expected was to have a tornado rip straight through her house, leaving her homeless. It's bad enough that the whole school now pities her, but did her parents have to let the neighbors take them in?

Now she's sharing a house with Ethan Poe, her former best friend-turned-enemy. All those feelings she used to have for him are starting to rain down on her again. Too bad he's a jerk and his new girlfriend has territorial issues. Thanks to Mother Nature, Ella's house and her entire life have been turned upside down.

Ethan isn't quite sure why Ella hates him so much, but he does know she wants nothing to do with him. He's never quite gotten over the crush he had on her as a kid, and now that she's living across the hall, it's hard to stay away. His girlfriend isn't helping the situation and when she shows her true colors, he doesn't want to date her anymore. He wants to date someone like Ella. Too bad she hates him.

Rekindling childhood romance

I'm a firm believer in soulmates and I believe Ella has found hers. When her life has been turned upside down the last person she expects to help her is Ethan. Childhood best friends, they are torn apart by lies. One fateful day they are thrown together again but someone may stand in the way of them coming back together. High school becomes more of a battle than normal and they may find that it isn't worth the heartache to become friends again. I love the innocence of the romance and found it very refreshing. Great narration that flows together well.

Very cute

This book was given to me for free at my request and I provided this voluntary review.
This is a well written story about young people dealing with heartbreak on many different levels. I have to stick up for it here and say that it is very realistic in telling that one way or another, everything will be okay. Be it after a heartbreak or after losing everything in a natural disaster.
That being said, the narrator did a good job of telling the story, but it just seems she might not like teenagers very much--or maybe just these teenagers in particular. They came across as whiny, or douchey. This is the only reason it isn't a five star rating.

Could be better

Parts of this book were very cute and parts cringe-worthy. The ex-girlfriend played the mean girl role to a T and Ella sounded like a annoying brat for most of the book. The H was unrealistic and the dialogue didn't do much better. It was a very quick book and it ended rather abruptly.

This book was given to me and I volunteered to give it an unbiased and honest review.

Cute YA Listen

Would you consider the audio edition of Ella's Twisted Senior Year to be better than the print version?

If given the choice I would prefer to listen to this book over reading it. This was performed very well so I will always pick audio over reading when the narration is good.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Nothing because it is perfect as it.

What about Meghan Kelly’s performance did you like?

I really liked everything about her performance. She did a really good job with the characters and I would listen to another book from her.

Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?

Yes. It was very engaging and I liked the story.

Any additional comments?

This was a cute YA story. Ella and Ethan used to be really close growing up as neighbors. But a misunderstanding leads their friendship to ruin. After a disaster and some financial problems Ella's family ends up moving into Ethan's family's home. I really liked the relationship between Ella and Ethan. Ethan was a really nice guy. A perfect YA hero. I liked Ella too. She was a bit of an outcast but she really stood up for herself when it counted. Without giving too much away this story really reminds me of a Kasie West book so if you are a fan of those I think you will really love this one.

cute read

Ella's Twisted Senior Year by Amy Spalding is super fun quick summer read. I was coming out of a complete book hangover and needed something light and easy to read so this was it. It was the perfect fix for not to involved but still fun to listen to. I love the best friends to enemies to lovers stories work . All over a silly misunderstanding. Although why I gave this 3.5 is because of the reason it was really really juvenile (even for middle school high school reads) and at times I thought the characters were a little more whiny then I like. Plus how the story came about and what happened you are expecting something epic and it was a real let down. But the characters are quirky and Ella's family was extremely lucky. Although some aspects just were confusing at best. As far as Ethan goes he is a unique character. I did not feel like he was a typical guy but definitely cool in the G rated kind of way that this can appeal to younger readers. He turned into a jock even though he really doesn't care for it while Ella does her own thing. How they came together after barely talking to each other for years was a bit outlandish but that is what makes this a fun read. I always do enjoy a dual perspective easy read. I would recommend this if you are wanting something light and not very involved but nothing outside of that.

I received this book in exchange for an honest review

sweet second change

I loved Ella and Ethan story it was touching and interesting how other can get in your way, this is the first time I have read anything by this author. This isn’t a cheesy romance but one filled with pain, sorrow, a second chance at a love that may not have been. I enjoyed her writing style and how she brings emotion into it. It is a sweet story with delightful characters.

The narrator did a wonderful job really making you feel the emotion of each character as they go through some very trying times. The character voices are wonderful, you always know who is talking and what they are feeling. Her male and female voices are given with strength and character. There are no repeating of words, no background noise, no volume changes. If breaks were taken I could not tell. This is one narrator I know I will enjoy listening to each time I pick up one of her new audios. I really look forward to listening to her voice.

I thought the author did a great job in keeping the readers attention, I did feel the ending was a little rushed but truly enjoyed the story.

Great Story!

This is a cute high school love story that just kept me wanting more. The narrator did an amazing job giving each character a unique personality. I particularly like the voice for Ethan and the cheerleader ex.
