Publisher's summary

"If you had told me two years ago that such a small change in my diet would yield such a big difference in my health, I would have laughed right in your face!" (Chris Randall; Vegan)

In The Vegan Solution: Why the Vegan Diet Often Fails and How to Fix It, prolific author Matt Stone shares his pioneering research on the role of metabolic rate in health as applied to a vegan diet.

In the book you'll learn about "The Frigid Fourteen" - fourteen metabolism-lowering mistakes that are frequently being committed in the vegan world. These simple, misguided mistakes are commonplace and extremely detrimental to the metabolic rate and all of the body's systems affected by it. Yet they are all simple to fix, returning the body back to proper function, oftentimes while remaining completely vegan.

Popular Youtube vlogger Chris Randall, who lost 150 pounds and rid himself of many chronic health issues and has had a sensational return to health with a vegan diet, also chimes in with his personal experience and advice after applying many of Stone's methods.

Randall has spent many months as a personal client of Stone's, and has seen his body temperature return to normal, his strength and sex drive is soaring like never before, and he is getting progressively leaner and healthier eating in excess of 4,000 calories daily - far more than he was eating prior.

In the book you'll find out how you, vegan or not, can apply the same methods and achieve similar results - all with changes so minor it will seem far-fetched that it could actually yield such dramatic changes.

The common negatives you hear about a vegan diet - losing muscle mass and strength, hair loss, horrendous digestion, tooth decay, freezing cold hands and feet, frequent urination, insomnia, dry skin, loss of menstruation and sex drive, and more are things most assume to be a consequence of avoiding animal products. Stone and Randall propose otherwise and aim for "fixing" your vegan diet instead of rushing you down to the local steakhouse.

Whether you are thinking about trying out a vegan diet or have been at it for many years, this book is the manual for how you can properly meet your physiological needs, avoid the ravages of a poorly-designed vegetarian diet, and thrive.

In an endless sea of pseudo-scientific and cultish vegetarian literature and propaganda, The Vegan Solution offers up real, sound, simple advice based on the scientific reality of our human needs and biological function. It's a must-read for anyone attempting to follow a vegan diet.

Couldn't get past first 5 minutes

Any additional comments?

The beginning was offensive so I stopped listening. I assume the rest would be the same. Any book that talks about your neighbours being able to smell your b---s because you have been wearing the same shorts for 3 days, lacks credibility and is insulting to its readers. Disgusting!

Author is condescending, thinks vegans are stupid.

This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?

Someone who enjoys eating meat and dairy and scoffing at vegans.

You didn’t love this book... but did it have any redeeming qualities?

I could only get through about 5 minutes before turning it off and deleting it from my phone forever so it may very well have some that I don't know about.

Any additional comments?

The author starts off by stating that if you're a vegan and your diet is so bad that you actually have to read this book then you must really need his help.

This style immediately repelled me (sorry Matt Stone) but it may be right up your alley.

Matt must have won a bet!

This self proclaimed jokester actually sold a book to vegans under the guise of a "vegan solution !" Matt is a vegan hater, well let's expand to a people hater. He sounds angry and unhappy. His sarcasm and foul language is better suited for a raunchy stand up comedian. The concern here is the uninformed listeners might actually take this book seriously. That's the danger in this joke. Also, something went terribly wrong with the acoustics. It sounded like he was recording in a shower stall. If this book had to be sold...it should have been marketed as comedy genre. Don't waste your time or money on this one!

Buyer Beware! This book is a wash.

What would have made The Vegan Solution: Why The Vegan Diet Often Fails and How to Fix It better?

The biggest problem I have with this book is that Matt Stone is a food writer who just does some internet research so he can write a book. The information was not well sourced or documented. He repeatedly mentioned a study or a population but never cited where this information came from. There were also so many contradictions.

What could Matt Stone have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

The audio could have been much better, it echoed at times and the conversational style of the writing did NOT work as an audiobook.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Confusion. As in, what the hell is this man talking about. One minute it's restrictive diets are bad and the next he is telling you not to eat nuts.

Any additional comments?

Please look anywhere but this book for nutritional information or information about a vegan diet. Any old internet website has got to be better than this book.

This Book Makes Me Feel Crazy

What disappointed you about The Vegan Solution: Why The Vegan Diet Often Fails and How to Fix It?

Um. It told me to eat 4,000 calories a day, and to salt my fruit.

What could Matt Stone have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?

Addressing hypertension in his discussion of adding more salt to everything!

How did the narrator detract from the book?

He didn't detract so much, he just sounded way too enthusiastic about these ideas that seemed insane.

What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?

Utter Confusion. I wondered if the author was pulling my leg.

Any additional comments?

His recommendations seemed really dangerous.
